  1. This is a nifty little device that attaches to your vehicle’s OBDII port under the dash. It is adaptable to most vehicles (visit Scangauge’s website to be sure yours is on the list). Interestingly, it interfaces via an ethernet port. I used it on a Ford Taurus, A Mercury Grand Marquis, and a Dodge Caravan. Yes, it displays real time MPG data. It also gives you the average time weighted average MPG. RPM, MPH,and TPS data- no problem. Coolant temperature, Ditto. Manifold absolute pressure depends on the vehicle. Same with intake air temperature. It does not give the actual O2 sensor reading, only if the loop is closed or open. It will definitely teach you skills to improve your fuel economy. Surprisingly, the larger your engine the better you will do because you can take advantage of low rpm high torque situations. I got 29.1 MPG with my Grand Mark using it (Averaged over 65 miles in city, highway and country backroads passing Amish Buggies) Philadelphia to Lancaster, PA. I would have given it 5 stars but the materials it is made with are lightweight and I’m not sure if it will stand the test of time. It is a very useful gadget, and it is a shame we can’t hook it up to a laptop to send the data to the state DOT to pass emissions inspection. I suggest ScanGauge look into this, it would probably only take a software upgrade, I know the hardware is up to task. I also suggest they encase it in shockproof rubber to protect it. This is a follow up review 5000 miles out from the last review. I revised the unit to 5 stars. Its durability has proven the test of time and jockeying between 3 vehicles. It sits nicely above the wheel of my V8 Grand Marquis with no significant dash obstruction. It maves easily from vehicle to vehicle an is capable of taking a hit bere or there. It would still be nice to have a shockproof rubber case but I upped my rating to 5 stars both because it held up well and it helped me average between 24-28 MPG country in my Grand Mark. It paid for itself in gasoline already. Anything more is gravy now. The only thing I suggest is a list of OBD codes to go with the unit. It is no longer as easy to find them using google because the mechanics and auto makers want to keep this information proprietary. Google OBD and the first 50 entries are either discussion boards, parts suppliers, or sensor makers. The same happens when you seek out a specific code. You have to dig but you can find what they mean. A list would be nice.

  2. Epic piece of kit. Does everything I was hoping for and more. Was a bit worried of compatibilty issues with Renault cars after reading about it on the net, but thankfully it works 100% on a 2009 Renault Clio. Piece of cake to get hang of and use. The only hard part is deciding where to mount the thing. Also there seems to be a bit of overlap with the fault codes. I have a faulty airbag at the minute and this does pick it up but reports it as a glow plug issue. I think a little more investigating is needed, maybe I have a glow plug problem too 😶 hopefully not though. If your considering buying, go for it, you won’t regret it.

  4. Product would be excellent if it worked with Australian vehicle. I bought one and it wouldn’t work with a Ford falcon

  5. as far as I can tell it works its not difficult to pair with your phone though obviously with an app based connection I wouldn’t try using outdated tech I found it to be useful to check over my vehicle before sending it for an Mot and it passed with flying colours so make of that hat you will but it seems good to me that I can check before it goes to a garage which means if they bring up a bunch of things that were not there before and suddenly its throwing codes you can also have proof with a saved report or 2 or 3 just to rub it in and then you can find an honest mechanic now most are but big companies and some side mechanics it can be a problem and if you are like me and have not won the lottery you cant afford to be paying for things that don’t need fixing

  7. I don’t leave many product reviews. This unit and support are exceptional.Installation is a piece of cake. If you can plug in a toaster, you can install this.No tools required. Most of the menu is completely intuitive. No need to read instructions…just scroll through and select what you want (like color and brightness of display). There is a huge menu of data you can monitor, based on your car. You may have to input a code (listed under your car type on the ScanGuage website)…but this is just directly entered into the unit (while it’s installed) by pushing buttons. VERY EASY!I have a hybrid, and am planning to tow with it. I can monitor 3 different inverter coolant probes !! I can monitor anything I want…huge menu of items and display whatever four items I want to monitor.BEST THING OF ALL: This is a product where they answer the phone and answer your questions, very nicely. There is a terrific video of exactly how to do everything you want, but if you want to ask a person, they answer the phone and help you !! From Arizona!!I’ve run a lot of systems to monitor parameters in airplanes (cylinder head temperatures, exhaust gas temperatures, etc, etc)…This is on par with aircraft systems !! PLUS it reads and clears OBD-II Maintenance codes !!Amazing. You will absolutely not be disappointed in this unit, ease of installation, ease of programming, ease of use. And it dims down to low levels (which I particularly like) and can have amber or red screen to save night vision (or any color you want!) Really well thought-out unit and having US phone support is outstanding.

  8. This item was plugged in and worked immediately. There is plenty of support on the internet but easily fitted and programmed. The only issue I have is the Velcro back not sticking well to the spot on the dash I selected

  9. I had great hopes for this HUD on my 2018 Toyota RAV4…didn’t happen. My problem I hoped it would solve is that in bright sun and with polarized sun glasses the dash speedometer is nearly impossible to read. Try to convince a traffic officer of that. The first day the HUD worked well although calibration tweaks were needed, I thought. I was connected through the car OBD jack. The speed display was consistently three miles over the car speedometer and the clock gained 30 minutes (not seconds) every couple of hours. I adjusted both according to the instructions and it seemed to help.On about the 5th day of having th HUD we took off on a three day road trip outside of the city. Within 45 minutes, the digital display froze. No action whatsoever. Not long after that, the display seemed to move in and squeezed the speed numbers. I ignored it until we reached our destination. I hoped if I turned the car off it would allow the HUD to reboot and be happy again. Didn’t happen. In fact, it got stranger. As it cycled on, the screen changed so the tach and other engine data, which I don’t really care about, showed as two 1/2 circle displays on each side of the speed number. But still nothing worked. I pulled the OBD plug and looked at a blank screen on the return trip. I attempted to contact the company, but here is no direct contact information. You might have better luck, but don’t count on it.

J’ai rien à dire. Un produit top

  11. Works great on my 98 Tacoma, even though it says it is compatible with 2008+. I was worried I would have to run it on GPS mode but seems to be fine so far. Stock speedo was never right due to changing my gearing and tire size, so this works perfectly for my application because I can set the speedometer to display 87% of the ECU speed. 5.29 gears w/ 35″ tires. I played with the speed % by using an external GPS (Google maps on my phone) and found that for my setup, 87% was spot-on. You also have an option of adjusting the speedometer by mph increments, but I found that % is accurate enough for me at all speeds. My only complaint is that the RPM gauge on all displays is a simple line that moves over the graphics, so it’s not really easy to see at a glance. But not that big of a deal.Super easy to install, plug & play into the OBD port, run the line to your location. It took longer to decide where I wanted the gauge to be placed than it took to install. Factory gauges and dummy lights leave a lot to be desired, so having the actual ECU data in this gauge is super helpful. Also reads and erases codes. I also noticed there is a auto-cleanup feature that I think will erase any codes for you automatically, so the MIL will not be constantly on (like after removing your cat) use at your own risk.At under fifty bucks this thing is a steal. My truck is never cleaned, always has dirt/mud falling out of the dash, roof leaks and I am surprised the OBDII port was even working, so if this lasts a year I will be happy!

  12. Easy to use product and its pretty useful to read other parameters which you meter cluster does not show

  13. I received it and the packaging was a bit worn. (Not a big deal). My item appeared to be new. Still had plastic on the screen and everything. But the problem is the item was defective. It would freeze and not respond. After talking with the manufacturer. I have to send it to them and get it repaired! Pointless! Just spend a few extra bucks and get it from the manufacturer. Junk on Amazon now. It’s the new ebay!

  14. Honest review of BlueDriver Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan Tool for iPhone & Android @ $99.95 at time of my order. This is my first OBD Scanner. Someone that had one of these recommended this scanner to me. I used this with the BlueDriver app downloaded to my iPhone 14 PRO. I have a 2002 Ford Taurus with a gas cap light illuminated on the instrument cluster. It also has the brake system lights illuminated, but fluids are okay and the system is okay. Whatever was going on was also causing what felt like occasional misfires and was possibly from a vacuum leak. Online research revealed several possible causes, so I tried what seemed like the simplest fix, which was first cleaning the gas cap and inlet and reseating it. That did not work, so I replaced the cap. That did not work. Another friend had a more inexpensive handheld OBD scan tool, but it did not reflect what was causing my gas cap light or the brake light warnings. Rather than continue spending money replacing various other possible things, I opted to try this BlueDriver Scanner since it was reportedly thorough. After reading the very brief quick start insert and downloading the app, I followed the directions and ran my first scan. It should be noted that this provides the best results if you enter your VIN (vehicle identification number) in the app before running the scan. If you run a scan with no VIN entered and wish to retrieve repair reports, the VIN must be entered and then you will be required to run another scan. This runs a deep scan. It took about 2 minutes or so. I made the VIN mistake and had to run two scans. (See dislikes below). This found issues related to the gas cap light (code P0457) as well as others that did not even reflect a warning light or code. But, it was issues that I wondered why things did not work. It identified likely causes of why my headlights did not come on automatically, why there was no chiming when my key was in the ignition while the driver’s door was open, an error in my hood switch, a power steering pressure sensor, and another vacuum system leak. So, I was quite impressed with the things it found/identified. It also allowed me to clear the code of the gas cap light. The brake light problem was not identified at all, nor was it cleared. As far as possible causes and reported fixes, I was hoping for a little more than a line or two saying from someone’s post that they replaced such and such. But, this is a lot more than so many other OBD scan tools provide. I can see taking this when looking at a used vehicle to purchase and running a deep scan to see of any hidden problems with the potential purchase. I recommend this product.Likes:Amazon Prime shipping, returns and refunds.Does a very deep scan of your vehicle’s systems and identifies things that don’t even light up on your dash.Worked well with the app on my iPhone once I clicked for it to allow to connect to Bluetooth. It provides recall reports (obviously on much older cars most of these should have already been dealt with and I don’t even know if a dealer will still honor those that aren’t).This works wirelessly between the device and your phone or tablet. There are no subscription fees or update fees and they keep their database current. One supposedly has access to trained technicians (24/7) in the app or by phone. I was unable to find anything on their online support page as to whether or not one must pay for this service. It automatically saves the report (I did not know this and saved a duplicate) and you can send this report to your email or just save the PDF.It’s very easy to use. Plug it into the port (vehicles after 1996, I believe, have these), and press on the scan icon. There are several self-explanatory icons. Some, not being a mechanic, I had no clue what they were for. There is an online support page. The device lights up while pairing with your phone/tablet and you can see a progress of the scan in the app.It has the capability to access your camera in order to scan your VIN, but it simply would not scan mine so I had to enter it manually.Reads and clears the annoying airbag system and tire pressure monitoring systems codes.Reads live data from your car engine, if you know what you’re looking at, I don’t.Dislikes:The VIN scan would not read my VIN although I made sure to do it in bright sunlight (no glare on windshield) and the VIN plate was not rusty or dirty or obscured.I was not able to copy and paste my VIN into the app’s VIN field. There’s really no instructional booklet aside from a very brief quick start card. Everything has to be found within the app or online at the site.Meh:Some kind of carrying case would have been nice. I am just using the box it came in, which serves the purpose, but a hard-shell protective case would have been much better. On the inside of the box is a BlueDriver plastic emblem with a magnetic or somewhat adhesive backing. I’ve no clue if this is meant to adhere to the outside of the packaging box or what it’s for.5 stars

  15. I upgraded to the Insight from a CTS2 Evolution Diesel Programmer. I did so because I found I programmed like 4 times and then for the next 7 years, everyday, I just used the CTS2 for monitoring key diesel data (like EGT, Boost, and Urea Level) and occasionally read / cleared trouble codes. The CTS 3 Insight is newer, slimmer, and does all those things I used the CTS2 reliably for years. I don;t really mind not programming anymore. Bonus, I didn’t even have to rewire the truck, as the cables were the same, and I just plugged the new CTS3 Insight right in to the old ones. Even the window suction clip is the same. So now I have a spare.I think these are expensive, but I use it everyday, and it does the job easily. So I’m ok with the cost. Tech support is great. The one time I had an issue with my older CTS2, I sent it back and they replaced whatever was broken on my unit, and returned it for free. Very quickly. Its a good company. One issue I do have with the new one is a bit of a nit, but its not as easy to configure the screens / PIDs on it. On my still working CTS2, you just press on a gauge and a list of PIDs is presented to replace the one you pressed. Done. On the CTS 3, there is some menu and screen configuring required. Not too hard, just more busy, and certainly requiring you to stop the vehicle to do it.

  16. Will not work on ‘older’ vehicles.I knew this, but for the price gave it a try.Does not work on a 2005 Savana 3500 box truck. Only displays battery voltage.Works great on everything else (newer) definitely handy.

  17. If you want to clear your codes ESPECIALLY if you have a Urea/DEF requirement eventually you’ll have issues. Getting information prior to a major problem the insight edge CTS3 will save you tons of money & headaches. Before we purchased this unit we had a hard code; in limp mode & miles from anywhere to get the code cleared or find out the issue. After sitting at the dealership almost 4 hours & $500:00 charge we left not knowing the problem code. They took 4 hours to clear the code & the charge was for their time.NEVER AGAIN with this unit. We figured it out ourselves & problem was solved. Stuck DEF pump. After repairing & cleared code we decided to replaced heater, wire harness. My 2013 3500 GMC Duramax is back running like a champ. Federal Government EPA requirements SUCK!!!

  18. Works great for my truck. Super easy install and set up. This is only a monitor, not a tune so no need to connect into the engine harness. I love how I can literally monitor every parameter thatthe ECM is seeing. Plus i can read and clear engine and transmission codes.

  19. Monitor stopped working two months after installation. First the screen started freezing forcing me to unplug and plug it back in, now it only shows one PID available and that is Percent Grade. Called tech-support and they sent out another OBD2 port cable which did nothing to solve the problem. This product is obviously not ready for prime time. Did some searches, and found out that I was not alone with this problem. Buyer Beware.

  20. For all people who bought this and could not get it to work. Before sending it back because it wont work or connect to your trucks computer, the main reason for this could be it has been sold and hooked up to someone truck and they couldn’t get it to work and sent it back so the company finding no fault repackages and sends out new again. if this happens to you like it did me go to settings and do a factory reset cause if its still has the other persons truck info in it that wil keep it from working like it did me. After going to settings and doing a factory reset it works like a dream and i really like it.

  21. I live in the country and have poor Internet for the most part. Starlink was an improvement. I’ve drive my vehicle near the house and modem and it would update and then time out. Finally said the H with it and parked further back far from house and I believe the key here is to turn the motor off. It downloaded and didn’t time out and then extracted all the files. Think you have to force it to stop monitoring the vehicle to let it do it’s thing. Seemed to work for me

  22. Bought this on recommendation from my mechanic. Had new transmission, transmission cooler and radiator installed on my old 2008 F150 pick up truck with 160K miles. Going on long trip hauling a 7800Lb travel trailer and was a good way to monitor all temperatures and pressures during trip. It worked flawlessly. Easy to set up and install plug and play. Also has custom settings feature you can add called XGauge. Very good and self explanatory information manual included and access to their website very informative and helpfull.

  23. Gran producto. Escanea lo básico más sistemas complejos como uno profesional. Asimismo recomienda posibles reparaciones según usuarios y guarda registros. Muy recomendable para DIY e inclusive mecánicos. Por su precio creo que no encontrarás algo mejor.

  25. I installed this Edge monitor on my 2007 Silverado 2500hd classic with the duramax diesel, and it is excellent! Following the directions, I updated it by bringing it inside and powering it with USB, and connecting to my wifi. The update took about 15 minutes. Afterwards, connecting it to the truck was super easy (it actually took more time orienting the suction cup mount to a satisfactory position). The display can be changed to your liking to show the a set of common values (rpm, speed, coolant temp), or even custom PIDs you want to see (rail pressure, trans temp, fuel level, etc). The display is responsive and clear, easy to read even in bright sunlight. It also goes to sleep when you turn the truck off and wakes by itself when cranking to save your battery! The only issue i’ve ever had was the screen went to sleep by itself once during a long drive as if the OBD port has stopped delivering power, but just touching the screen woke it again. I suspect the issue is with my truck and not the edge unit.

  26. I bought this for my 07 dodge ram 3500 4×4 5.9L 24V cummins and it works great so far with no issues so far.

  32. Wow, great collection of gauges and DTC scan tool itself is well worth the money. The DIGITAL dashboard showing the speedometer/rpm looks cool and modern. The HUD secondary gauge displays Coolant and Oil temp, Voltage, MPG, etc.The display is bright and comfortably clear in bright daylight under the California sun.Installation was simple, plug into the OBD port, then run the cable to the top of the steering wheel. The cable was extra long (about 6 feet) and I stuffed the slack into the fuse box above the OBD port. The included manual covers basic setup but honestly you can figure it out with only 3 buttons to work with.It took me 10 minutes to set the IMPERIAL units (MPH, MPG), set the time (UTC -8 hours), set the auto-turnoff volage to 13.2 volts, and the secondary gauges. For accurate MPG for my car, in the Fuel Settings, I set the Model to Honda and “Swept Volume” from 1.6 liters to 2.4 liters. My car is showing 28 MPG which seems correct. The latest firmware seems to have fixed the complaints found in user reviews.Among them that I found are listed below for those that are on the fence.1. The “third display in the secondary gauges section” (which shows voltage) can be changed (yes all 3 can be changed now).2. The display can be set to IMPERIAL (MPH, MPG, etc) or METRIC (KPH, liters/100 km, etc) in the Settings menu.3. SPEED and RPM correctly matched the dashboard Analog gauges at freeway speeds for my 99 Honda Accord.4. Clock time is accurate after adjusting the TIME OFFSET -8 hours in the Settings (time is auto-synched with GPS which is a plus).5. No suction cup included in my package. I do not use it as it falls off unexpectedly during driving but incase you need it.6. OBD cable is high quality and fits very firmly into the OBD port. Unplugging requires force and it will not unplug while driving on the road.6. I wear polarized sunglass and can see the display crisp and clear in bright daylight. The display goes dark if you tilt your head 45 degrees.7. Car parked for 2 days with HUD plugged in and the car starts up fine. HUD kept all my settings. Manufacturer does recommend unplugging the HUD if car is parked for 7 days.8. For accurate MPG for your car, go into the Fuel Settings, set the Model (ie Honda) and “swept volume” from 1.6 liters to your engine size.

  33. Product arrived quickly, and as described. The perfect solution for monitoring additional information/gauges that aren’t available on the OEM/stock gauge cluster.

  34. This is an excellent monitor and works well with my 2004 Ford Excursion with the 6.0L diesel. However, it’s kinda pricey for just being a monitor, and the mount that comes with it is kinda bulky and I’m sure the suction cup wouldn’t last forever. I ended buying one of their pillar mount and it looks much better.

  35. My friend’s 2014 Outback Odometer and the efficiency gauge are dead. It’s also not recording total miles or trip. Basically all gauges but the REV meter and fuel tank level are broken. Interestingly cruise control works fine. No fuses bad and when I hook up my OBD computer to it; I’m registering Miles per hour just fine. So this tells me that the rev sensor in the transmission is working but whatever is sending signal to the other gauges isn’t. I told her to get rid of that thing as quickly as possible. Until then, I bought one of these to grab data directly from the computer. Works great! Some features are pretty useless for this 2.5L non-turbo Outback but if you’re interested enough it does have a 0-60 test…

  36. This is not the cheapest option. It’s probably not even the best option for obd scanner.I primarily use an obdlink ex with forscan as I own a lot of fords but for everything else I use this BlueDriver.Set up was easy and this comes with its own proprietary app which is nice. You can map up to 5 individual sensors to monitor live data. This picks up engine, body, abs and srs codes as well so it communicates with all of the care diagnostics.I keep this in my backpack so I have it no matter what vehicle I’m in. Easy to connect to any vehicle.I definitely recommend this to others on car groups on Facebook as well.Worth every penny for a quality scan tool to pull codes and reset diagnostic lights.
