  1. I can’t recommend this product enough! You’d never know that it wasn’t brand new and that it’s a refurbished product.I got this for my soon to be 3-year-old sons Christmas. I’ve been using it and setting it up for him and have had no issues whatsoever. This was an awesome choice for a first tablet for him because it was half the price of the kids fire 7, and there are tons of kids cases on Amazon that you can purchase to turn it into a bigger version of the kids Fire 7 except bigger and for a fraction of the price.I always buy my kids fire tablets, my 17-year old and 14-year-old kids also got fire tablets for Christmas as their first devices when they were 3 and 6 and they loved them. They really are a perfect choice for kids who are a little younger. I don’t see the point in buying an expensive tablet for a toddler or young child when these work just as well and I actually prefer them for kids for several reasons, not least of which is Kids+ and the ability to link everything with my Amazon account so easily. We can access their Kindle books, the shows they like to watch on prime, and everything else. I like the parental controls as well. It’s just a really seamless experience for a first tablet or device for a child. I can set limits and enforce quiet hours while still having something portable to take on errands and trips and for his limited screen time at home. He loves to play learning games on my phone and read books on my Kindle as well as watch Monster Jam and dirt bike kids videos on YouTube and watch his shows. So I know he’ll be so excited to unwrap his gifts on Christmas morning to find that Santa has brought him the “big phone” he asked for.

  2. The media could not be loaded.  I had to give 1-star because 0-stars wasn’t an option. I thought I’d give this a try. Amazon description says it would work just like a new device. They were very wrong!! I received this device and as soon as it was used the device started playing random App Store adds. These adds would pop up every 60 seconds, once the add played the device would automatically download the app. I contacted Amazon customer service and was instructed to do a factory reset and they removed the add options. I did the reset and it continued to do it. They offered to send me a replacement. I received the replacement and it was doing the exact same thing. Once again reached out to customer service and asked to process a refund. They then flagged my action for abnormal activity and demanded I provide them with a copy of my government issued ID in order to be eligible for a refund, which would only be granted at their discretion. I will never again order a refurbished device.

  3. This was purchased for my autistic grandson. He is 6 years old but did not start speaking even small words until last year thanks to listening to others and his previous amazon tablet. That tablet got broken after years of use and after it’s warranty had worn out. This tablet is FAR better than the 2020 tablet. The 5G network is amazingly fast and it has a Very long battery life which lasts around 12 hours before it needs a couple of hours of recharging. My grandson’s sleep schedule is crazy. We have yet to be able to get him on a decent schedule because he is awake for around 16 hours, sleeps 8 hours, and then he is up again for another 16 hours. His energy is amazing. Most of the time he is on this tablet. We have noticed that he has been speaking sentences and using big words like incomprehensible which we know he learned from his tablet from a particular app. He also does grade 3 math and even algebra on his tablet and he gets it right! I am not trying to gloat but genius does run in our family for generations and he and his older brother do fit the bill easily, as does their cousin. Along with myself, my wife, and our kids, and my dad etc. It goes on and on BUT this tablet gives my grandson access to information right at his fingertips to help him to learn new knowledge in order to use that genius. The world literally at his fingertips. It is great seeing his world expand so much.

  4. I’ve had more than a few Android tablets over the years (yes, Nexus 7 was the best tablet ever). I also had one of the first gen Fire tablets, which was pretty disappointing but usable, and have an iPad mini.I’ll get right to the point…the wireless charging is the game changer here. I wanted my iPad mini to charge on a dock so badly that I paid $200 for a combination magnetic stand and case that was supposed to do just that. Sadly it didn’t work, and I sent them back. But power was always the problem. If I use it all day at my desk, I have to plug it in to be able to use it from the couch…which meant I needed to have charging cables in both places, or keep it plugged in all day which isn’t very convenient for when you just want to grab it really quick to do something.I saw an old video from Smart Home Solver using this as a Home Assistant dashboard, looked around and saw an Amazon renew for $84, and decided to give it a try with the charging dock. It’s brilliant!Of course it’s not as powerful as an iPad, but’s very capable for doing the basics. Instead of having charging cables laying around (and falling behind things) wherever I may want to use the tablet, I just bought more than one dock. Problem solved. Now I can take it the 3 main places I use it and the dock is a nice stand that holds it at the perfect position when I’m say…watching the front door for the pizza guy.It also makes a nice dashboard monitor for my home lab things which are mostly accessible by browser. The Amazon Renew version I got had the ads on in, which are annoying AF, so I paid the $15 to get rid of that, and installed all my Google stuff, Edge, ChatGPT, Co-Pilot, DuckDuckGo, and all my music apps…connected it to my audio system via Bluetooth and for roughly $140 I have my all around music streamer, web browser, Home Assistant dashboard, and all my Kindle stuff and podcasts are right there….with charging docs on my desk, and next to the couch.Highly recommend.

  5. It’s still a budget tablet, but a very useful one. Especially for the money. I would say even if you’re just using your Fire tablet for browsing the net, and/or reading books, there’s a smoother run and less glitching. Compared to the regular HD 8, it’s noticeable in things like when I’m exercising and want to use the text to speech function, it doesn’t glitch nearly as much. I was having to stop doing what I’m doing and restart the text to speech function a lot more on the regular version. Does the plus version still glitch now and then? Yes, but not so much that it’s annoying me almost every time I use it. And I’m not talking about an older Fire tablet, but the newest version of the regular HD 8 I returned for the plus version. It’s worth the $20 extra for that alone! Results may vary. These are mine and I hope it helps if you’re having similar issues and wondering if the upgrade to the plus will help.I also connected a Bluetooth keyboard which makes it a LOT more productive. And my AirPods connect easily as well. I have no issues taking this to a library or cafe to write, get some work done, and can listen to music on the Amazon music app while I’m at it. Also, the split screen function on the regular version was not able to consistently split the screen in equal halves without glitching and minimizing one half if the screen. The plus keeps the split consistently. So if you’re on a budget, or just looking for a small inexpensive table you can toss in bag and not worry a whole lot about what happens to it, this is pretty easily replaced, but durable enough to stand getting bounced around. I’ve had the Fire 7 and an HD10. This is the right size for holding in your hands while reading and for portability. Best Fire tablet I’ve owned so far.

  6. On paper, the differences between the HD and HD Plus seemed insignificant if you don’t care about the wireless charging, so I originally bought the standard HD. I returned it within a couple of weeks because it was sometimes maddeningly slow. I wasn’t gonna buy this one, though, because it doesn’t even have a faster processor, just a little bit more RAM. But I also didn’t want to spend the money for an iPad mini when I mostly want to use it as an e-reader. So I was gonna settle for a decent android tablet for a little more money than a fire. Fortunately there was a shipping issue with that tablet that coincided with another great sale on the Fire tablets, so I gave the Plus a shot. This is just my experience with two fire tablets, and maybe the first tablet had some sort of defect, but the difference between the HD and the HD Plus has been enormous. No the HD Plus is not as zippy and responsive as an iPad, but it’s been way better than the first HD Fire. It’s very usable and perfectly responsive for the few apps that I use, and again it’s a great e-reader. Screen is bright and sharp enough for reading, video, and games. My first HD 8 even struggled as an e-reader sometimes, taking a long time to load the Kindle app, or page turns not being as responsive as they should be.And as a bonus, I got the wireless charging stand. It’s a surprisingly pleasant bonus to just plop it there when I’m done using it and to never have to plug a cord in.

  7. I wanted something to read my epubs and pdf books and comics I downloaded, I also wanted a tablet so I looked into different tablets and ebooks. After days of research and reading different tablet reviews I landed on this. I bought the refurbished 2021 version because it was under $90 and it had 1 gig of ram than the newest version. I wanted the 4 gig ram for any gaming I might want to use this tablet for. Out of the box the screen is immaculate. I use it to watch my favorite prime video shows. I think for the price point with an upgraded sd memory and installing Google Play, and disabling the bloatware and limiting the displays to only show what you want it is a decent tablet. The screen is a little too big for reading but it works ok. I use Moon+ reader for reading all my media and the screen makes the comics and art books really pop. If I could have a wishlist for a future tablet it would be: The option to delete any app i don’t use or intend to use. I found tons of bloatware I could not delete. I don’t have kids so I don’t need to have different apps for kids. Kindle isn’t selling books, so why are they still hardwired in. There’s a few apps I just wish I could completely delete from the device, there’s ways around it but they stay dormant in the tablet. Like I said after days of research this really was the best option for the price. I didn’t need anything expensive and the screen resolution is A++

  8. My primary use for my tablet is listening to stories, books. I use it at night and set a timer on the tablet so it cuts itself off. I also like being able to adjust the size of the fonts. It will also connect to my connect and my Bluetooth headphones making it possible for me to listen while I’m gardening.I don’t come close to using my tablet to its full capacity but I wouldn’t want to do without it.

  9. I absolutely love my Kindle fire. It is my preferred method of reading as I don’t really like the feel of books. The battery last week at a time and I don’t even mind the advertisements as they usually recommend a book that I want to read. if that sounds annoying to you, you can pay a little bit more and get your Kindle unlocked.I play games on this. I watch movies on this when I travel and more than anything. I use it to read. I don’t even use my iPad anymore because this check all my boxes. and for the price I’m not afraid to leave it behind or break it like I am with the iPad. And honestly, it works just as well for what I need it for.

  10. As a mom of a toddler is hard sometimes in restaurants or long trips ( flights) to keep the kid on one spot whiout being entertain. And to always sacrifice my phone is not an option. So I decide to get the tablet. Well its good investment definetely and the point that you can customize it and download exactly what your child development required is great ( yes it has so many great brain development apps for it) The only downside is that the set up is not simplify and you cant remove cathegories from the home screen.

  11. My kiddo had their eyes on a shiny new tablet for Christmas. Voilà! We picked out this gem. It’s a breeze to navigate, comes in an adorable color, and the little stand is a hit. Plus, those designer stickers on the back? Total game-changer! Thanks to Amazon, we scored a fab 2-year free kids’ time deal, granting me some well-deserved moments of tranquility while she’s in tablet wonderland.

  12. Because my children had fire tablets before, it was an easy decision. Safe games and easily navigated by children. I did opt for a micro SD card to expand on space since my kids always find more new games they want to play. Considering it comes with a year membership, it is worth the money compared to other kid’s tablets. The cool new design is a bonus as well.

  13. I use the tablet as a tv/music/podcast player in my machine shop and kitchen and sometimes due to holding other items or where it’s sitting I want to pick it up claw style between the knuckle of the thumb and middle finger, but the 8″ is slightly too big for this, so I would rather have a 7-inch. That said the 8″ refurbished fire was cheaper than the 7″ ones that were available at the time of purchase and the speaker placement is much better than my previous 7″ fire.

  14. The screen is bigger than my old Kindle Fire. Has much more memory. I love the holder that is also a charger that was available with the Fire HD. It has the ability to play games, has several “coloring” games included, and can use internet with it.

  15. I wanted a tablet that I could watch my favorite shows on, as well as listen to music and other content. This Amazon Fire HD 8 (8 inch screen) tablet works out great for me. I had an Amazon Fire in the past that I loved, but unfortunately the screen broke. So, I decided to get an upgraded model, and so far I’m really impressed with the quality and speed of the tablet. It works great, there’s no lagging of the shows/movies I watch and the picture is very clear. I got a refurbished one (which to be honest, I was skeptical at first); but it came fast and works just as well as a totally brand new one. I like to use things for a long time, as to cut down on waste and to be made economical and eco-friendly. This worked well for a lot of reasons, and I also believe it’s reasonable in price when comparing to other similar items on the market. It’s been great so far, and I love it! 😊

  16. I was looking to replace a 7″ tablet. I love the portability. This Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus tablet was such a good deal that I couldn’t resist. The plus version gives you faster charging and slightly better performance. Surprisingly, it is still portable enough for my use. In fact, it feels a lot better in my hands to use in comparison to the 7″ or 10″ and larger tablets that I own. I bought it to use only a few specific apps. But I find myself reaching for it more often than my other tablets to read, for emails, browse internet, social media and games. It’s just the perfect size for me. It has 32GB of storage, which is enough for me. The tablet charges very quickly and the battery lasts a couple of days. The screen is pretty bright, touchscreen works well. The cameras are decent, it would have been nice if the front camera was 1080p like the rear one. Since most people don’t take pictures with tablets but may use them for video calls. The volume is sufficiently loud for watching videos and listening to music. It has a headphone jack. Beware, the cheaper version has ads on the lock screen. You can pay $15 more for an ad free device. . You are limited to the Fire OS, so make sure your apps are available in the Amazon app store. There are work arounds, if you know, you know. Of course, being an amazon prime member makes these devices even more useful. Overall, I think this is a great tablet, if it is not your only device.

  17. I love this tablet! It’s kid safe and no worries about adult content being exposed. I can rest assure. It’s easy to use for my 5 year old

  18. Granddaughter loved and is using new one had older one 10 yrs old slow outdated but loves new one uses daily

  19. Yes it meet apoveal I will definitely be ordering another one for my sister had tet her borrow mine

  20. Bought this to provide elderly mom with dementia some activities. This platform allows for quick limting of access and a wealth of good memory games for entertainment

  21. Sometimes I dont hear sound from Alexa, which can be frustrating. Also sometimes I have questions that seem to be unanswered — for example, Does one return books ” to clear the Tablet”?Also– C an you download a preview to see if you want to buy the book? But to be fair, I have not asked Community or Help/ Chat. But it is a beautiful little Fire Tablet and Im very happy so far.

  22. I’m 81 yrs young but struggle with reading post-eye surgery. This Kindle app is a huge improvement for reading from the10th gen I traded in. I started using the green backdrop with the old tablet, and with the more advanced features of my12th gen, I’m so happy! This new Fire also offers the green backdrop for Kindle. This version is also speedier and right in for glide word entry. So glad I ignored the naysayers!

  23. Easy 5-Star overall but dislike the power and volume buttons on right side of product, because those are not recessed as on a previous version. Right hand is prone to accidentally bumping into those buttons while using the product. Really like the added port for a little sim card, though, which adds utility beyond past versions of the product. Also, this new version accesses news sources better than before. Very happy with purchase of this item overall! Almost forgot to mention it was so easy to set up!!!

  24. This is my 5th or 6th tablet. It’s light and perfect size for traveling and reading at night – adjustable night reading is clutch so I don’t wake my husband. I only use it to read so can’t comment on using it to browse the internet but for reading it’s all I need. Not gonna lie though, sometimes it does take a second and the screen flickers when click on the kindle app to browse for books but I don’t mind anymore lol.

  25. I absolutely love to read, my last kindle was a 7″ newest gen but it was lost while moving. So I told the hubby I wanted another kindle. I was gonna go with kindle paperwhite but it’s just so expensive! I got this kindle HD 8 from target a few days ago and it works perfectly! I’m super impressed with the battery life, and the overall functions.I absolutely hate that Amazon has discontinued the goodreads app, that’s the entire reason why I went with the HD 8 rather than paperwhite. But nonetheless I’m still very happy.

Esta tablet tiene una resistencia extraordinaria. He visto a mis sobrinos dejarla caer fuertemente y permanece en excelente condiciones.

  27. My wife got this to use as an E-Reader and to monitor emails. The price is right for this tablet and it was faster than expected.

  28. This is my 3rd tablet and the newer version. It is much more lightweight.I got an Amazon Refurb, but have no regrets on that. Product was easy and ready to go.My use is for social media, email and printing. Basic stuff.I did not pay extra for the ad removal because you can delete and turn off most of it yourself.Highly recommend.

  29. My twins boys love this tablets I grab 2 and they are 6 years old and they love their tablets you can put a lock on it so they can’t get on certain apps you can put it on kid mode so they can just play nothing but kids stuff kid games kid activities they truly love it they watch the movies off of it they play all the games they love downloading different games to try and play plus they do their school activity work online off of there so they can get points for their classroom to win pizza parties and snacks

  30. This was definitely worth the money I bought a refurbished version but I’m really glad that I did I hadn’t had a new Kindle since about 2010. Battery last forever. No scratches no dings came perfectly as described. It looked exactly how it looked in the picture. Was really easy to set up to my existing Amazon account because I did that before I ever purchased it so when I turned it on I just had to hit a few buttons and everything automatically linked. I love the fact that I can play wheel of Fortune on tablet so definitely happy with that. Great performance as far as speed and storage.I bought the Kindle in order to store my Kindle unlimited purchases and be able to read and take my books with me wherever I go.

  31. I love my Kindle Fire, for the most part. I’ve had several, and if mine were to need replaced, I’d probably still choose another Fire over the other Kindle options, just for versatility. The Fire is compatible with the Libby library app, which is great, as you download books from Libby through your library directly to your Fire. The backlighting makes it easy to read at night or in bed, and it’s easy to use to watch TV. It’s not as versatile as a dedicated tablet like an iPad, but if you’re wanting it mostly for reading, with a few extras, it’s a great choice and really affordable, even compared to other Kindles. The only downside, for me at least, is that the Fire is quite heavy compared to a Paperwhite. Not a big deal, since I like the other features I get with it, but it’s comparable in weight to a hardcover epic fantasy if you put a case on it, so heavier than other Kindles and heavier than most paperback books as well. Without a case it’s slightly lighter, but I rarely don’t use a case with it. It’s also a bit hard to use a pop socket with it to make holding it a little more comfortable, but might work better with an adhesive strap on the back instead. Battery life is okay – it’s more of a tablet than other Kindles so it’s got more power being used on the lighting for the screen, which means it does die faster and need charged more often. If you’re reading for an hour or more every day, you’ll probably need to charge it every 3-5 days. It’s definitely not one of the Kindles that can go 3 weeks without being charged, which is fine by me since I can do more with it than I can with other Kindles. Picture quality is just okay – it’s not bad, but again, it’s not a high-end tablet. It’s an e-reader with some tablet functionality. If you’re looking for something that you’re wanting to watch TV or videos on a lot and care about picture quality, you’ll want something more high-end that’s meant to be more of a tablet. Overall, perfect for what I use it for!

  32. The advances made by Amazon with this product through the years is honestly amazing! It’s fast, easy to use, great battery life and the ability to expand the memory is something not done by the most expensive coughapplecough products. I recommend my Amazon devices to all that ask.

  33. Don’t expect a $500 iPad & I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by this tablet. I wanted a tablet to take with me traveling internationally to read the kindle app & download shows from amazon prime for the lengthy trip. I bought this item refurbished through amazon. The battery life is very good, & I actually enjoy reading on it more than my iPad because it is thinner & lighter. This tablet served me very well on my travel between the US & the Philippines & provided entertainment during down times without worries I’d lose or break an item that cost me hundreds of $$$$. Don’t get me wrong, I love my M1 iPad Air with 5G, but this tablet also serves its purpose for me.
