  1. We just moved into a recently renovated/flipped home. Everything was brand new and the home was clean, clean, clean! But, we had this horrible problem — flies! We couldn’t open the garage door or take out the trash or even come in the front door without flies getting in. Considering how diseased these critters are, I didn’t want them in my home. At one point I had killed 10 in a single day.. in my home!Enough was enough! We had purchased one of those rectangular zappers you see, rebranded a thousand times, for $40 on amazon and they do work great (although loud and a bit scary to handle.) Even though it was killing our active flies, the problem still persisted. My friend told me to wash out the trash can outside (the likely source of these flies) with bleach and soap water after the trash had been taken. So I did. I bleached and watched all those larvae go toodles into the soapy and bleach abyss. I thought that would be it. But, nope! Two days later, I’m taking out the trash and lift up my trash can and am met with a swarm of no less than 30 flies. 30!! Where did they come from in two days?!So, I turned to Amazon once again. I saw that Terro had a garbage guard for $7 that had decent reviews. So I figured it wouldn’t hurt. I risked it and purchased the Terro T800. It arrived the next day. When I got it, it didn’t smell like anything. It’s super tiny. I thought in NO WAY would this thing do anything. But I stuck it anyway to the garbage kid, and like another reviewer suggested, I put it by the hinge to help prevent it from being knocked out by trash. Then, I close the lid reluctantly. I was pretty sure this tiny, non electrical, non-smelly thing wasn’t going to do SQUAT. Like all the vitamin reviews on Amazon, I was pretty sure any review was made up. But, I left it alone.I came back two days later to take out more trash and was preparing my fateful demise involving 30 more flies. My hand went up to my face. I made sure to close my mouth — you know, just in case. One fly. One came out. WHAT?I look into the trash can which has been previously alive with maggots and saw none. NONE. And what I saw were a bunch of dead fly bodies. Those horrible vermin were gone. This must have what it felt like to be Dexter.. I have officially wiped out the enemy with punishable death. Two days later I return and just a moth comes out and the flies are still dead. It’s been a week and I have not had to kill a single fly in my house. It’s been a week and I have not had to suffer the annoying sound of the bzzzz behind my head as I read a book and then turn around with anger, “Where are you!” I no longer have the guts of flies smashed on my palms as I smash them against the window in my vain quest to rid them from my house. To think, months of suffering with flies and all I had to do was get this Terro Garbage Guard. It is $7 with prime and will be the best investment for you! I cannot recommend it’s enough.Thank you, Terro, for giving me my sanity back.

  2. What I like is how fast it will kill the flies. What I don’t like is that it really doesn’t attract them to the bait.I’ve tried adding items to a small dish to help attract them so they’ll eat the bait. But, from what I’ve been reading on other reviews, no way do I have a ton of dead flies anywhere near where I have a hanging dish with this bait in it.I’m a little disappointed with this. Was hoping it would attract flies and keep them away from my back door. Was hoping that it would attract flies, that are in the home, so they aren’t flying all over the place. Not working as I hoped.

  3. Reading the previous reviews, I was a bit skeptical byuing it. But I can tell you that it works well the day I put it in. Flies are still around the bin but always ended up dying. No more maggots and bad smell. So happy.Back to buy a couple more.100% recommend this products.

  4. Effect is very good

  5. Adhered to the inside of the green bin lid as directed; there was no discernible reduction in flying insects.

  6. stick it on the bottom of the garbage bin, it stuck on for maybe a week then it fell off

  7. I attached this device to the inside lid of one of my outdoor garbage cans with a zip tie which I ran through the small holes that surround the unit. Prior to installing this unit I was having a horrible time with maggots all over the inside of the can. I bag up the trash in the can and take out to the curb on Fridays and usually have to wear rubber gloves to keep all the maggots off my hands. Since putting this unit on two weeks ago, I haven’t seen a single live maggot. What I have seen is about 5 dead flies and 3 or 4 dead maggots laying on top of garbage in the can! This can gets the kitchen trash as well as dog “mess” from the yard. So you can imagine the amount of maggots that can build up in there in a weeks time… 1000s. I can’t say how long this device will be effective as I’ve only been using it for a couple of weeks, but when it stops being effective, I’ll come back and update this review. In the mean time, I am about to purchase a few more to make sure I get through this scorching summer we’re experiencing.**UPDATE: Just finished week 4 with this product and I’ve noticed between 10 and 20 maggots alive in the trash can. There is no way that this item will keep maggots away (or kill them) for 3 months. That said, I will continue to use this product, even if I have to change it out after only a month, because to do otherwise means that I’ll be dealing with a HUGE amount of maggots every Friday when I have to tie up the bag and set it out on the curb. I will take away a couple of stars though; one for each month short of the 3 months mentioned on the box.

  8. Purchased this product instead of my usual Quickbayt because it saved me a couple of dollars. I am sorry that I did. While this product will and does kill flies, understand that it does not do so by itself. You have to add it to an attractant (something smelly) otherwise it simply just sits there. I have racoons, opossums and skunks that prowl around the property and putting something smelly in a cup is like ringing the dinner bell to these guys. I do not wish to give this product a bad review because it does what it claims, however I was not happy with its performance. I was expecting something more.

  9. The site site said “it kills on contact”d. I live in a country setting, by the time I open the door and screen door, and close both, fly’s seem to dive bomb in a second or two, for a cooler place. I sprayed the kitchen, the fly’s flew through it, and into the dining room and flew around in their. I spray the dining room, and they flew back into the kitchen – so it didn’t kill on contact – I must have super fly’s on my property.

  10. cheap and does exactly what I need. they do break if you swing hard and fast like I do after a while but that’s why I get the multi pack and that’s why they are cheap. I break one about every 3 months and then pull out another.

  11. He comprado muchas cosas para mosquitos e insectos y este ha sido el mejor y más funcional

  12. Flexible, wide area , easy to clean.Does the job.

  13. I found that the flies won’t land in the solution to drink it. I used the end of a fork to stir it together and laid it on a paper plate, and two huge flies landed on the fork and dropped over dead on my plate. So then I took some and put it around the rim of this glass bowl, and all of these fruit flies landed on the bowl rim and fell into the poison. I didn’t get a picture of the final results, but it was insane. And best of all no more fruit flies! I will be using this product from now on.

  14. I tried everything this summer to get rid of house flies. Natural spray, chemical filled spray, vinegar, you name it. They just did not want to die. Went old school with these bad boys and took care of the issue in one morning. Bonus there were so many in the pack the kids were included in the job!

  15. Cumple con lo prometido, el manejo es muy sencillo, sólo hay que tener cuidado con el pegamento del insecticida porque es bastante fuerte al tacto por si se hace contacto por accidente

  16. I mostly keep this in stock for when one of my kiddos has a case of lice. It’s so much cheaper than the other products to spray things like furniture with. I won’t take a star away because it sucks as a bedbug treatment because you can kill the bugs that you see. It’s awesome for what I need it for

  17. I have a stubborn population of cluster flies near my home. In situations where squashing them isn’t convenient or possible, I spray this at them and they spaz out and die within a few minutes. That said, it smells really bad and definitely isn’t something you want to be inhaling regularly. The “clean fresh scent” is a photorealistic gas station bathroom odor: cleaning fluid, garbage & synthetic flowers. It’s important to know that this product is not a repellant, it’s only a poison to the flies. I also remain skeptical that it continues killing any new infiltrators after it’s been sprayed, even though the scent lingers days. I’ve so far only seen it the flies dead when I spray it right at them.I also have stink bugs in my home and unfortunately those guys seem completely unbothered by this stuff.

  18. Keine scharfkantigen EckenGute VerarbeitungPreis ist human

  19. I am very satisfied with this product. It works, but if you’re looking for a fast solution, this is not it. I’ve had it for a few weeks, it is still catching the fruit flies. I can’t complain, since the glue card is full. I have 2, one in my kitchen and one in my bathroom. It’s the kitchen one that fills up, the bathroom one takes longer. I like the design of the unit, it’s modern and fits in to decor. Also, it’s handy that the unit can be swiveled around from the plug, so it can fit literally anywhere, even if upside down. I bought more glue cards, the generic is totally doable. Overall, great, effective purchase and I’m looking forward to being completely fruit fly free very soon.

  20. They are flimsy not very strong.

  21. I tried this because of an issue I had in my kitchen garbage can. It works, they were gone, and stayed gone. It looked as if it was effective for four months. After that, I decided to get it with “subscribe and save” program, so that’s how effective it was. I will agree totally with everyone who said to use a much stronger two-sided tape, as the one that comes with the unit simply doesn’t last for more than 2-3 days. That is the only negative with this product.

  22. I ordered this flea spray to kill my neighbor’s dogs fleas that are left at my door. There is carpet between both our front doors. So when the dogs come out, they love to play at my door for some reason!?Well, their fleas are left behind on my door mat and the carpet between our doors.Everytime I step out my door, fleas attack me!So, this hot shot flea spray killed those fleas on contact, and saving me from scratching my skin raw!Definitely will order this GREAT spray again and again!!

  23. Reliable with pleasant scent for annoying bugs.

  24. Our Caribbean home has lots of mosquitoes. They fly and hide everywhere waiting to attack..including under the dining room table. We would eat and get eaten! Now I spray this under the table and it lasts for weeks just like the can says. The same thing with the roach spray. It lasts and keeps the animals at bay.

  25. what else do you need? nothing works better. light weight, perforated for faster movement through air, light, lots of “whip” in the handle. the flexible handle makes it easier to hit at angles and from further away as the swater is arcing toward the fly.CHEAP!!

  26. I have a lot of houseplants and raise insects in my home so I have a huge fruit fly problem. No, I use to have a huge fruit fly problem!! I couldn’t sit and watch TV or cook dinner or just exist without one flying into my face. I was being driven completely insane! I bought the fancy Dunaga trap with the fan and it helped a little I guess. But these beauties have eliminated their existence, at least on my level of awareness, and my home is finally peaceful again. I have 3 of them in my 2400 square foot home and in just a couple days they have drawn in and trapped dozens of the tiny winged spawns of hell. I couldn’t be happier. Pesticide and chemical free I believe. The light draws them in where they get stuck on the replaceable trap. Set up is easy enough for a 2 year old. Get a couple, put one near the source, and be free of their torment.

  27. These are a good price and so far have been sturdy and effective. I didn’t really need 5, but it’s nice to have a couple of back ups. Happy with the purchase

  28. I bought two and put one near our fruit basket to catch fruit flies and several fruit fries are stuck to it. Another we put near indoor plants and there are lots gnat fly stuck to it. It attracts fruit fly and gnats and they get stuck.

  29. Love this stuff

  30. The first photo is a trap that I had installed for a few months next to my kitchen sink. I mean, wow. The second photo is of a trap I installed, and within a minute it caught an annoying little gnat that was in my bathroom. I now have 4 of these traps all around my small apartment to hopefully keep our home gnat/mosquito free for the summer. Super easy installation, lights are always working, super effective, affordable. Yes. Buy.

  31. We had crazy rain in California and all my outdoor plants were attacked by bugs that fell in love with the interior of my kitchen and drove me crazy – to the point my kids thought it is a game to chase flies in the house..Anyway, I bought it hoping that will solve the problem and it kind of did that, but it took a while – I assumed once you put it and bam, all of them will go there, not quite like that:Day 1 – nothingDay 2 – nothingDay 3 – only 1 and it stayed like this for 12+ days, I kept checking like crazy how many flies will be on it but it was only 1 lolNow 3 weeks later, there are 6+ which is a success and I don’t have flies in my kitchen, so let’s say it works but in my case only when I gave up on checking the trap, then the flies go there.

  32. I didn’t know that I had so many gnats (and perhaps other tiny flies?) in the master bathroom and my office. All I knew is that it seemed that there was something that was doing a “drive-by-bite”, and it was so fast that I could never see it, hence I could never catch it. I recently killed a couple of gnats in the master bath, something I hadn’t seen in the first 2 years we first purchased this home, so I feel like this problem is new.I started looking into how to fix the situation, and I knew right away that I was not interested in creating a whole bunch of contraptions of apple cider vinegar with sweeteners, etc, to catch these. I didn’t want jars of liquid all over my house. So, as usual, I knew someone on Amazon had figured out an easier way, and here we are! Now, I definitely need to figure out the root cause, but in the meantime, the solution offered by the Safer Home gnat/fly trap is fantastic. At first, it seemed to be slow going, but within a half hour, one gnat was already on the card. I thought, well, that was probably the one who had been continuously biting my feet and legs! Later, I saw another stuck on the card and then didn’t see much action for a couple of days. Days later there were a couple more…and more! I was thinking, yes, yes, invite all of your friends and family! And it seems that they did. Within 2 weeks or so, the card was nearly covered!Occasionally, I will turn on the light in the bath and find one or two crawling along the edge, or dancing behind the card, and then it jumps on the card and back off. It’s fascinating! If one is running along the edge, I will help him meet his fate sooner, and if not, he will eventually stick to the card with everyone else. What I do notice though is that in the afternoon one gnat (or two?) wanders into the office where I am working after I’ve closed the light-blocking curtains to block the heat and sun. (I guess they are drawn in by the lamp?) So, now I am wondering if I should put another Safer Home trap right on my desk, or by my legs because all of the drive-by-biting makes it difficult to concentrate on what I’m working on.For anyone who says “it didn’t work” may need a bit more patience, or they have too much light in the place where the night light is placed. I placed mine in the master bath, and it’s pretty dark in there, but there’s no door to the main portion of the bath (only where the toilet is). I thought that the light from the gigantic sliding glass windows in the office would affect how the product worked, but it hasn’t. In other words, too much light coming in from elsewhere wouldn’t draw the gnats to the UV light in the bath, but this must not be the case for my master bath.I am so thankful for this product, and I recommend it!P.S. I have attached 2 pictures of what the trap looks like in the master bath with a bit of light filtering in from the big windows in the office. It seems that if you can get your space at least this dark, this product will do wonders for your space – and your ability to concentrate while working!!

  33. Not bad price and pretty sturdy for plastic

  34. If you’re like me, you really REALLY want to find a solution for those dang fruit flies. I’ve used DIY concoctions as well as at least 5 purchased products. They either didn’t work or were mediocre. This one really works! And the bug carcasses are discreetly hidden behind a panel so it’s not unsightly.

  35. works great

  36. NO more flies or maggots once this was installed! Living in hot SW florida, the bottom of our can was full of maggots every week after trash pick up, despite bleaching and spraying it the week before after the previous pick up. And there was flies EVERYWHERE- when you open the can, around the can, flying into the house every time we open the door. It’s like they were just waiting at the front door to come rushing into the house as soon as we opened it. Maddening… then I found this thing and, boom – no more flies. No more maggots. Amazing. Even better, it lasted 6 months before it stopped working.

  37. Bought this due to the price thinking it surely should work on more than just flying insects. It does! Tested it out on a scorpion in my garage and it worked! Scorpions typically aren’t affected by bug spray but this spray got to this one! So I can only imagine that it’d work on creepy crawlies as well. lol

I live in Texas, and the flies have been horrible. Every time I open the door they are everywhere. I’ve bought this product before and it lasts a really long time. I actually came across it on TikTok, and the woman sprinkled it on top of a piece of bread on a throwaway plate. I have found that to be a really easy way to bait the flies, and it makes for a really easy cleanup. It also doesn’t have a bad odor. A lot of flies. Stuff stinks so bad. I will definitely continue buying this.

Every spring and fall I’m invaded by house flies. I’ve used sticky strips on windows pretty effectively but they’re nasty to look at and deal with. Someone who has horses recommended this. I got up one morning to find a couple dozen flies buzzing around the windows, so I sprinkled this along the windowsills. Within a couple of hours all the flies were dead! The bait has no chemical odor, but by golly it works. I’ve put it outside the windows and doors and — ta-da — no more flies. I’d give this 10 stars if possible. It’s maybe a little pricey but a little goes a long way.

  40. I am in love with this product. It kills the flys so fast

  41. TERRO T800 Garbage Guard Trash Can Insect KilleThis really works! Easy to stick on and it stays in place on smooth surfaces. But I have on trashcan that is not smooth and it comes loose and falls. But no more nasty maggots or gnats.

  42. Like these a lot. Work well and are heavy duty and solid. What can I say, they are fly swatters and come in bright colors.

  43. Works wel in bug catching and the price is outstanding

  44. I will be buying again

  45. It’s rare to find an item that exceeds expectations, but this little plug in bug catcher WORKS. I won’t share more gross photos of all the gnats and such it’s caught in my home, but let me just say “ewwww!” I plugged one in near by potted plants and by the next morning, the glue trap and caught a killed over two dozen gnats! I mean, they were in my house which totally makes me barf. If you have indoor plants, get this. I like to leave my windows open for fresh air, so all kinds of things fly in. I ordered three more and placed them all over, and they are catching so many little buggers. This thing is the real deal. IT WORKS!

  46. I had a horrible horrible fruit fly infestation in my apartment. The culprit I believe were banana peels and other foods in my kitchen trash can. I purchased this and stuck in on the inside lid of the trash can as well as put up apple cider vinegar traps and fly ribbons everywhere. I believe this device really helped. After the first day I noticed a huge loss of fruit flies, yet only a few were caught in my traps. I believe the bulk of them died in my trash can due to this device. The smell it gives off is quite strong and will make you dizzy if you smell it to close like I accidently did when trying to get it out of the package. The adhesion that came with it sucks though. The paper wouldn’t peel off on one side of the adhesion so I couldn’t even use it. I used command strips to stick it to the lid of my trash can.
