  1. See update at end…Buying a refurbished PC (desktop or laptop) can be dicey. You never know if you’re going to get a hidden gem or an incompetently rebuilt piece of garbage. I have bought about a dozen of them, and promptly returned just more than half. This laptop is by far the most completely refurbed PC I have purchased. It looks new–the screen, the body, even the touchpad (which almost always shows wear) look untouched. It is definitely the nicest laptop I’ve had. The specs are exactly as listed, down to DDR4 memory and a battery that shows only 24 previous discharge/recharge cycles, far better than most refurbs.A word of advice for purchasers trying to figure out if a purchased refurb will work for them: -Don’t expect anything to work well right out of the box. You will have to spend some time getting it in running order. Think of your time spent as balancing the $ you saved buying refurbished! (No, this isn’t because the refurbisher didn’t do their job. Once they get everything working, they will only do a clean install of Windows. The rest is up to you, just like it would be with a new computer.) -The first thing any Windows machine when you finish the guided set up (IF you connected to a wifi or wired network) is start installing Windows updates. (You can check progress by selecting “Check for updates” from the start menu.) Until all updates are finished, it will be slow. It might even restart seemingly at random. Once you think all updates are installed, reboot and check for updates until it shows “You’re up to date”. This can take quite some time with a slow network connection, so be sure you’re using fast wifi or even plug in an ethernet cable until ALL updates are done. -While updates are installing, check the specs to make sure they are what you bought. Don’t assume. The built-in Windows System Information app is a good place to start. There are lots of free apps for reporting on the HDD, memory, and battery. Check Google. If ANYTHING seems off, ask the seller about it. If you don’t like the answer, return it! -Next go to the manufacturer’s support website and install all available driver updates (including BIOS!). I can’t oversell the importance here. Many manufacturers have an app you can download to streamline this process (for HP it is HP Support Assistant). NOTE: If something stops working during this step (function keys or bluetooth are the most likely things to stop working), Google away until you find a solution. Someone has run into the same problem before, and the solution is probably there to be found. -After these steps, you should have a fully functional computer. Test it out and see if it actually meets your needs. If not, contact the seller. If you aren’t happy with the response, return it!One word of warning: the touchpad is textured. I can see this bothering some people, but I kind of like it. It makes it really easy to move the mouse precisely vertically, in line with the lines of the texture.I hope this helps someone who is on the edge about whether to buy this or not. Thank you, seller!———–UPDATE: After using this laptop for a couple of weeks, I thought I should add an update. I do wish the display was a bit better. The colors wash out easily, especially at lower levels. It’s also worth noting that the processor on this model is not listed as compatible for the Windows 11 upgrade. Not a big deal to me, but worth noting.

  2. This is the first impression – so far I’ve had this computer for about a day and I must say that the condition is pristine. This laptop looks like it’s brand new, with the exception of one incredibly minor spot on the mousepad that appears to be lifting, but it doesn’t affect functionality at all. Another review mentioned that the trackpad is textured, which I actually find to be a good thing because sometimes with the soft trackpads it’s difficult to tell with your finger when you’re sliding on the thing or moving something. Perhaps I’m not explaining that in the best way because it sounds like I have no hand eye coordination whatsoever. I digress. The packaging for the computer was also amazing – it came in this incredibly strong bubble wrap that I am saving for makeshift body armor because the zombie apocalypse is coming and I’m going to be prepared for it.Ok, I’ll be serious now. The computer is in perfect condition, nothing about it is noisy, the specs on the computer match to exactly what was advertised, and the power source is genuine HP. I don’t know if it’s really a thing or not, but I don’t use generic power supplies because I just always thought it was best to use the ones from the manufacturer. All of the keys work! Honestly, this laptop looks like someone took it out of the box, realized that it was the wrong color, and sent it back. Because the box is cracked open and the computer was turned on, they have to call it “refurbished” but there’s really no convincing me that this isn’t a brand new computer.I’ll update this review later, after I’ve had this computer for awhile. 🙂

  3. I’m a writer and student and use non-MS programs so I could not get a Chromebook. I also needed a laptop so I had a way to write or research when I was travelling. I have a large desktop “work” computer where most of my work is done. I had a similar HP laptop but the keyboard and touch pad went out and I expect that those two things are the weakest link in any laptop. Buy a silicon key cover to make the life of your keyboard last, but these laptops, on average last abut 2-3 years. Another thing that will make the computer last longer is to get a USB mouse to avoid using the track pad.About the only difference between the new and the old HPs was that this had 4G of RAM and the other had 8G of RAM. This Stream is definitely good at not seizing or lurching when you watch a movie or video. The other additive that Microsoft has put on this computer is the “Windows 10-S.” It is easy to get out of, and there is a toggle to change the program to “Windows 11 Home,” which is more capable of evading corporate MS’s iron handed ownership of my computer. The instructions are online and they send a large postcard with the computer which also has instructions. It is just a matter of going into “settings” and changing it.I do not mind the PC and MS “marriage” but I do not want a computer that tells me I can only use their programs which happened with Chromebook. This one is constantly asking (begging) me to turn on my Cloud service, and turn on other MS Programs. I do not do any of that, and I do not want to send my work to the cloud (When I import it into the big machine I will). I like that it has an extra USB port. Otherwise it is pretty basic and reminds me of Chromebook, (which I like but cannot use because of the non-MS proprietary writing programs I use).As far as using it for entertainment or videos, the sound is nice and loud (but not blasting) the picture is great, and it does not buffer endlessly– but that may be my internet service. My overall opinion is “nice.” It is a good computer for Students or Writers who do not want or need to spend $1000 on top of the line equipment. Nope. this is just a “tuck it in the bag and go” type computer.

  4. I bought this laptop last August. It worked great for a couple of months. For the past three months it freezes while on Zoom. No matter where I am. Have tried 5 different physical settings as well as internet providers. I did buy the support agreement so going down that road, but have to send in the laptop and currently don’t have an extra one. So that will cost me productivity and money in my small business.

  5. hola un saludo el producto me llegó en perfecto estado pero no me llegó el cargador de la laptop de todo lo demás esta bien solo que necesito el cargador para poderla prender y trabajar con ella

  6. We bought this for my 6yr old to play things like ABC Mouse, but goodness it is so incredibly slow. I didn’t expect lightning speed at this price point, but it is even slower than I expected. Even ABC Mouse is almost too much for this computer to handle and locks up frequently. We would return it except we already threw the box away (rookie move). However, it is a beautiful color that absolutely delighted my princess loving daughter, and she is thrilled to have her own computer, even if it runs slow as molasses. We will hopefully upgrade it with a stick of 8gb ram soon and see if that helps.

  7. I was so excited about purchasing this small capacity laptop for just my writing. As simply as that. Nothing more. Well… it couldn’t even handle that. I started it up and it took 10 tries for it to be able to connect to my WiFi. After it finally did, it experienced such slow hangups uploading software and loading internet pages that I was not even able to install chrome. I would type something in the browser window and the text wouldn’t start showing up until 5-6 seconds later. It would blank/freeze screen while trying to load Edge. It wouldn’t even load up the installed Word application. I tried over several hours to get this thing to just let me pull up my Drive page so I could see how it does with my typing and it was so slow that I just gave up. No computer should be this slow or be this difficult to update. It’s very cute and if it weren’t such a bad performer, I’d actually ignore that it’s made of very cheap plastic and I really had to lay on the touchpad to get it to click in a very specific spot. I’d have been okay with that since typing doesn’t really take much touchpad use unless editing and I would have been okay with it. But.. because I couldn’t even get past trying to load up a page, I was done. Not worth the hassle. Returned it next day. Please don’t bother buying this – you’re taking the risk of having to fuss around with it for hours to no avail. Someone reviewed that this was good for older folks – I don’t think it is. It’s not good for anyone. Just a horrible, outdated, lagging, cheaply made useless device. On to my search for a different laptop.

  8. So I love this laptop very much from looks to how easy it is to install and uninstall apps. However, it moves laggy if you have too much going on such as windows and apps. Once I took away what wasn’t necessary for me, runs pretty alright.

  10. I’ve had this laptop for just over 3 months (return is within 90 days) and it won’t turn on anymore! Don’t waste your money. Not worth it.

  11. I ordered 2 of these laptops for my granddaughters for school. They arrived quickly and were easy to set up and start using. These have everything they need for school. One of the laptops had a key function failure and I was able to send the laptop back for a replacement. They sent out the new laptop right away so my granddaughter wouldn’t be without it for school. Wonderful, quick, and thoughtful service 🙂

  12. Was as described. It is by far the best laptop fast loading. The delivery was a day earlier than expected. Thanks

  13. I under that the computer is refurbished how ever it’s suppose to actually work though. It does turn on but you can’t really use any of the apps as far as movies go. You can’t even use the internet really unless downloaded an app for that but even then it has error messages pop up all the time. Waste of money I bought this computer for business needs but I can barely do lil stuff with it so do not purchase find yourself something brand new

  14. Very poor quality. Shuts down often. Don’t buy one of the worst Laptops I’ve ever bought.

  15. I’ve had several HP computers. Each is worse than the last. This computer is horrible! Immediately slow. Freezes up constantly. Don’t waste your money. This does not have a touch screen . It is not worth your money or energy. If I could this computer all zeroes I would. Buy an Apple.

  16. So my original laptop broke during moving which of course broke my heart. This was such a GREAT COST friendly laptop. Not to mention it actually does move FAST internet wise. I’ve had this for about 6 months now and haven’t had any issues !

  17. Was suppose to be pink with a white keyboard, was all pink was very difficult to see the letters and numbers. But it runs well so didn’t want to return it. I bought a keyboard cover so I could see the keys. But they did send me the wrong one. So watch out

  18. I rarely go back to orders that are a year old to leave a review, but this is a great laptop at this price point.Having had it for a year, here’s my impressions. If you’re expecting fingerprint sensor and touchscreen then you will be let down. However, it gets things done.I would say go ahead and do a factory reset and install the hp drivers bios update etc that others have mentioned. Not sure if it helped speed it up in my case, but it’s always a good idea to be up to date.If you want to get real performance out of it, install Linux along side of it. It can pretty much do anything a windows or a Mac can do. Actually, it can do more than both of those!I’ve installed Manjaro Linux and it does everything I need it to do. I can code for my web development, emulate consoles up to gamecube and Wii, and play some older PC games like doom 3 and BioShock. If you’re looking for a laptop for video editing or processing large files, compressed and decompressing, who’s ain’t it. But, if you’re looking for a laptop that you won’t scream at and call a piece of crap, this is it!

  19. Excelente producto

  20. This was a refreshed laptop. It arrived in excellent condition – no scratches or dents – like new. The setup was easy – runs great – has great battery life and great value. It’s not a speed demon but for browsing the web – email and social media it’s perfect.

  21. works good for the money

  22. The media could not be loaded.  i like this laptop already and i just got it. its definitely what i have been looking for, for a long time. The only thing is, it’s acting up with network. I don’t see why the computer is running slow as if I had it for a long time. I don’t know if I love it or about to ship it back

  23. It’s very slow, even if you uninstall everything on it, it will still say storage full, making it hard to get any type of schoolwork done but it keeps closing things out, and after 3 months of having , it finally shut down , it won’t even let me do a full reset on the computer to get it back working

  24. Unit performs as expected but disliked the requirement for lengthy on line process to enable built in programs .

The Company Described a Quality Product and Is True like They Said. Highly Recommended.

  26. Works well, good size and quality. Just what I needed.

  27. Light weight. Home use.

  28. Esta muy practica y muy linda

  29. No complaints for what it cost!

  30. A nice little laptop. I wasn’t expecting much when I bought it, but it’s worked well. The screen and keys were in perfect condition. The battery might be crappy, but I just use it while plugged in. I haven’t tried it without yet. No problems so far.

  31. It is in new condition and up and running.

  32. I’ve had my laptop for a couple of weeks now and am very happy with it. I have never bought a refurbished computer, but I’m so glad I did. The price was amazing and the laptop looks and functions as a brand new computer. I will definitely be looking at purchasing refurbished electronics in the future.

  33. Me ha funcionado muy bien para lo que la ocupo, muy funcional.

  34. Bought as a gift for my uncle he love it value for your money works great and clean sleek look

  35. It’s nice my wife loved it

  36. So slow, sometimes it connects to the Internet but usually it doesn’t. Bought for my daughter as a Christmas present and it started presenting issues right away but I just assumed it’s because we were used to the Google setup. Took forever to figure out how to get it to connect to the internet because it didn’t do it automatically constantly have issues with it staying connected to the internet and it’s so slow can’t open the Microsoft edge web browser half the time. I kept the box just in case I had to return it but I kept giving it the benefit of a doubt thinking we’ll get it figured out but my daughter uses her sister’s laptop and hasn’t touched this more than twice in the last 3 months so I decided maybe I’ll take it over so I can actually get some use out of it but it’s so frustrating I’d rather just use my phone. It also doesn’t support apps like kids messenger fyi

  37. I luvd it

  38. We bought this to replace an HP Stream and we figured at this price (refurbished) that we would go HP again. Glad we took a chance on this one. Very impressed with the overall performance. Also went with a 500GB external hard drive and wow, what a big deal this is.I would not hesitate to buy another one. There are many things we like about it, and don’t know if it has touchscreen or not, but we wouldn’t use that feature anyway so do your research on that.We also don’t know how tech support would be since we plugged it in and went right to work, no problems. With the Amazon warranty, we didn’t have a problem with going for a refurbished model and we couldn’t get this at the ‘brand-new’ price so we are really pleased.

  39. I bought this computer as a travel computer to use for work and I am 100% satisfied with my purchase. The computer runs fast and I am able to use all of my work software with no issue. I did think the storage would be an issue since it’s so slow at 4gb but everything has been working great. Only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t have a way to cover the camera, my other laptop had a slider that I could move to cover the camera lense

  40. Mala calidad de laptop viene dañado. Botón enciende pero la pantalla no enciende. Y el otro tiene un punto de luz en la pantalla. Eso 2 laptop q compré es perdida. No recomiendo esto laptop

  41. Purchased for my teenage daughter to use for school. It started off being very slow but changed a few settings and it is faster than expected for the price.

  42. This is a good laptop for school and for personal uses, not great for gaming .

  43. I don’t use my computer for a lot. I surgery the web, watch YouTube videos, type documents and send emails. Still, I was scared that it was gonna slow after reading the reviews. It isn’t. Once you get out of Safe Mode, get rid of things you don’t need and download your browser of choice its actually very fast. It starts up and shuts down in seconds. Faster than my old one.My ONE thing and if I could get it replaced I would, is that the caps lock gets stuck. It’s very weird. I accidentally click it so I click it off, it shows its off, but it still shows up as if it’s on when I type. There is no way around it. I have to restart it. I wish I could fix it.

My school wouldn’t provide a laptop for the cricut we use in Student Congress. I didn’t want the students on my personal one, but this was not expensive and it is working perfectly for that primary use.

  45. got this to replace my old one and it works like a dream for streaming and research but not gaming

  46. Liked free 365 for year

  47. Honestly this is a really good laptop! I’m satisfied with how smoothly it runs, the sound is good and graphics are great. So far nothing like most reviews on this laptop, overall it’s pretty solid for the price.
