  1. I am pleasantly surprised as I really like the surface laptop Go. I feel like Microsoft missed a home run here with the base model having 4 gb of ram and no fingerprint sensor and then having to go to the next trim at $699 to get the 8 gb ram and fingerprint sensor. Result: ground rule double.Likes:Design: it is a nice looking device that stands out from the others in its category. The ice blue is attractive while not the most obvious blue still retains a nice look. The plastic underside does not detract from this either.Size: It is compact and fairly light.Screen: Despite the sub 1080p resolution, the screen is still attractive and bright with accurate colors. The 3:2 aspect ratio also makes this a hit because the screen is taller and easier to review documents, because you have to scroll less than a 16:9 aspect ratio.Color options: there are 3 different color options to choose from, options are always good.Ports: having usb-c and a is great as well as having the device charge from USB-c along with the mag connector for charging.Trackpad: this is on the nicest trackpads I have ever used as my fingers glide across it. Mouse movement is great.Price: the base model starts at $550.Fingerprint reader: nice and fast logonPerformance: all models have an i5 processor and I think this is more than fine for everyday users, even the base model will give you good performance.Neutral:Keyboard: it is okay to type on for me and not as good as the pixelbook go keyboard because it has a somewhat mushy feeling when typing.Screen: it is nice but still it is under 1080p for a device that cost $550 and up. When was the last time you found a device that was not full hd for $500 or up?Sound: I think it sounds decent, not amazing, not a pro or con.Base Model: 4 gb really microsoft you could not have just put an extra 4 gigs in and charge $599. Why limit it this way? Also no fingerprint reader in base model as well.Battery life: it is in the 7-8 hours territory. Not amazing but not awful either.Cons:Keyboard: no backlight. This is the biggest con again when is the last time you had a device over $500 with no backlit keyboard. It makes typing in poorly lit rooms more difficult and a no fly zone for those who work in darkness.Price: on the highest tier model Microsoft is really trying to upcharge you just for added storage.$899 just highlights this device’s shortcomings even more in that price bracket.Wrap up: I looked over a bunch of devices in this class and some not in its class. This is not the quintessential device for me but it is very good. My biggest gripe is the lack of backlit keyboard on a device in this price range. I find the screen is very nice looking but the sub 1080p comes across as tacky also. I feel they could have popped an i3 in the base model and then added the fingerprint sensor. Avoid the $899 model as that is too much to pay for something so compromised. Also consider: The Surface laptop 3 is something to consider if you are worried about the compromises being made. It has a backlit keyboard, a full HD+ display and is larger at 13.5 screen display. It does cost more, and also the bezel around the display is larger.

  2. Edit to original review: This laptop is absolutely horrible. I have not used it for barely ANYTHING because the processor is horrible. I used it to make projects with my printer and cutting machine. The bluetooth disconnects and ruins materials. It literally takes 3 hours to print and cut one sticker sheet because the computer freezes CONSTANTLY. I have zero problems using a different computer for these tasks. The touchpad is also so sensitive that you can’t even use it. You basically HAVE to buy a separate mouse. I hate this laptop and I am NEVER buying another computer from Microsoft. I was prompted to update the OS, and I did and now I can not even start using the computer because I get a MILLION Microsoft ads! How many times must I close Bing windows about Black Friday?!?! This is insanely obnoxious. Every time I change the default browser from Bing to something that doesn’t suck, it changes it back to Bing and I also get a million pop ups about more Microsoft products that I don’t want! It gives me pop ups constantly about emails I never set up ! Do NOT waste your money. This laptop has done nothing but waste TONS of time, money, and my last ounce of patience. I am literally going to smash it with a sledgehammer. Today.Original: I needed a much better laptop. Initially I was looking for a 2-in-1 (tablet and laptop). I watched some videos and narrowed my selections down. So I knew what to expect going in. Other reviews mentioned how the keyboard is not backlit. I thought this wouldn’t bother me much but now that I have it, it’s pretty annoying, especially because it is a common complaint and surely it is an easy fix, right? This was the cheapest of the 4 new computers I was looking at, and this was $850 with my selection. I probably should have spent a little more I guess. Then I realize that the screen does not detach like the Microsoft Surface Pro 7. Grrr. The screen doesn’t even fold back flat and you can’t use the Surface Pro pen on the screen either!! Gee, must be really good otherwise, right? Not so much. Comes with a ton of bloatware. If you want to use apps you probably use everyday, you have to disable safety mode, or only use Microsoft apps and nobody does that. I do like the aesthetic of the laptop, and the keyboard actually reminds me of my MacBook which has an ancient OS now. The touchpad is great, and so is the keyboard other than no backlighting. It turns on fast! However, this kind of freaked me out: The second time I turned it on, the laptop wasn’t facing me and I already used my finger to unlock it (I thought) but it didn’t work until I got in front of the computer. It made me wonder if it was using my face to unlock like my MacBook. Then it immediately said I was logged into a videoconferencing app that I have never used. I didn’t even realize that app was on this computer and I never created an account for it. I guess Microsoft does what it wants. I removed that app and many more. That was all a big turn off for me. But honestly the biggest complaint is the horrible graphics. My eyesight is not as great as it once was but honestly, the pixelation is bad and noticeable. I installed a photo editing app and even when blowing high resolution images up to edit, it looks worse than really cheap laptops I had 20 years ago. No exaggeration. I have tested this with hundreds of images now. Believe the reviews that mention this! My husband can’t stand when I watch TV on standard definition and that has never bothered me but this screen just looks distorted. I do like that it is small and lightweight. I can slip it in my nightstand and jump on it quickly for quick work stuff and that is great. But I am underwhelmed. Just really consider what the majority of reviewers complain about. If you’re considering any of the Microsoft Surface computers, other models have more to offer.

  3. The Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 – 135″ Touchscreen – Intel Core i5 – 8GB Memory – 512GB SSD – Sandstone – English – is an excellent laptop, and therefore, an excellent purchase!

  4. The number of ports are limited. The camera can be improved. It would also be nice to have another camera on the cover like a Surface Pro since there is a chance to host a hybrid meeting nowadays. The screen bezel is wider than their competitors, but it is perfectly fine to me because it is still narrow enough. Although it is a 13.5″, the screen appears to be bigger because of ratio aspect MS chose to use. I really like this extra screen space. The ice blue color is just so beautiful beyond words. The Alcantara keyboard is so comfortable and such a joy to type on. It is pretty too. I think the Surface Laptop 4 is an excellent choice for people who prefers a Windows platform.

  5. I’m homebound for ~6 months with 2 broken ankles; the sporadic function of the Chromebook I had was driving me nuts trying to get anything done or keep myself entertained while stuck at home. Bought the Surface after my positive experiences with the one I am supplied with for work and now I am able to get stuff done all day without freeze-ups and rebooting every 12-24 hours. And the configuration options available were mind blowing…it took a bit to decide what it was I actually needed on the unit verses the cost of paying for ALL the options.

This is my third Surface and I’m really pleased. The first lasted me 5 years and I loved it. The second I took from my son after he left for college and got a new computer that suited his needs more. But because he kind of abused it it didn’t last long. So far I’m loving this one! The battery life is solid but like any laptop watch too many videos or use too much processing power and the battery life goes down. The touch screen is much improved over previous models. The one downside for my needs is no slot for a SD or mini SD card. There’s only one USB port and one USB C port so you really need a hub.

  7. Esta muy bonita la laptop pero tiene ese detalle, y llevo muy poquito con ella hasta me da la duda de ya haya sido usada antes pues el cargador ya se descompuso en menos de un año

  8. My son purchased this laptop to go to college. IT is light and sleek. It looks great – which of course is important! The laptop is powerful and will do all that he needs it to do and then some. The graphics are very good. It connected to the WIFI and is working flawlessly. It was able to be upgraded to Windows 11 with no issues. I highly recommend this laptop!

  9. I’m using this laptop for work. Windows suite of software & simple streaming. (No gaming or intense video graphics) It’s got a “full size” keyboard & screen – but weighs very little. East set up. Sound is better than expected. Camera / mic / Bluetooth all work just fine.I know vey little about laptops- this machine was on a “recommended” list by an org that I trust & had a “price drop” alert. The timing & price were right, so I purchased. It was a good decision.

  10. Great laptop. customer service has been great, genuine seller.Looking forward to using it!

  11. Came with fresh install of Windows 10 Pro which automatically activated once you setup your account…etc. No visible blemishes. Everything works as it should, including touch screen. Screen is in good shape. My only complaint is that the chargers seems a little beat up and there’s 2 asset management stickers on it. Likely from a previous IT team or seller’s inventory system. Not the end of the world, not enough to lose a star but a bit of an annoyance. For about $30 less than the “premium” version, this came about a week faster and was in good shape. Maybe I got lucky but I’m satisfied and would definitely buy again.

  12. This is a compact and powerful little machine. I bought it for the uses of audio, movie, and tv streaming via wifi… I rate it high for ease of use and versatility for having touchscreen. I like this way better than a Chromebook, given that I’m a Windows PC guy. This is a powerful Microsoft machine. If you’re not into Chromebooks, get this Microsoft device. Has WiFi 6, fast PC processor, and 8GB of ram.

  13. Working all fine

  14. Light, easy to set up, good for household use or studying

  15. Very fast and easy to carry. Excel and Pp love

  16. Le quedó perfecta a mi sourface go 2, lo único malo es que se quedan marcados los dedos

  17. I wanted to be very excited by this purchase. The laptop is beautiful and the system runs well. But, this product, inspected by professionals??? Was shipped to me unable to charge… I am going to do some of my own trouble shooting and if it goes smoothly I’ll report back with a better rating. I really want this to work out. It just seems like charging is such a basic function I don’t know how the hell it was the thing that was missed by these “experts”.Edit: Best Buy are the real hero’s here. Was able to get the problem diagnosed. Amazon wouldn’t even send me a replacement charger, even tho it was established the initial one was faulty. So much for a warranty.Over all good price- but you might spend a little more time and money covering for amazons “experts”

  18. I finally decided to shell out money to replace my pos laptop, and I am so glad I did! It is the perfect size for college and doesn’t take up much space in my book bag. This laptop is sleek and feels high-tech. I can have multiple tabs open w/o a problem. I am able to multi-task and access my college work, personal projects, & work projects w/ ease.Additional Pros: Touchscreen; Fingerprint IDCon: The battery life seems shorter than expected but it isn’t a major con.

  19. Very pleased with this little laptop. Doing online college courses and this laptop is easy to toss in my bag when I go to the library. Good battery life. Great speed. Happy with my purchase!

  20. I got the computer 4ish months ago and it’s amazing and fast. The touch screen is a good add. There is a back lit keyboard which is great. The only down fall is how expensive another charging cord is.

  21. It is simple, fast and very versatile and durable personal computer.

  22. I love this laptop at first I was skeptical about purchasing a laptop through a 3rd party but they didn’t disappoint me . When I first received the laptop , it had some downloading issues and I did some digging and it was through Microsoft . Which soon got resolved. It’s fast ! But I will be honest when playing a game like Roblox the battery isn’t good , but when I watch Netflix it’s decent . Other than that so far so good ! This is also my college laptop .

  23. very well made computer. it is touch screen and very easy to use. set it up and less than 10 minutes and i have no regrets.

  24. This laptop seems almost new with very minor scratches on its black finish. One surprise i got is that it wasnt the Alcantara finish (cloth) but a metal finish. Its works like a regular laptop and for a bit over 300$ its a good price.

  25. The media could not be loaded.  I got sandstone, I love this laptop inside and out. I’ve been using it for 2 days and everything is working perfectly fine.

  26. Had to replace a Chromebook for my daughter. She LOVES IT!!!! She loves the touchscreen and how light weight it is, so doesn’t weigh down her backpack. It’s slim so doesn’t take up much room. She has plenty of memory to store school assignments and the has no issues connecting to school internet to complete class assignments. Her school requires kids to have laptops and this one has worked out great. She has been using for several months and she has no complaints.

  27. Looks and works like new. I paid a bit extra for “excellent” condition but would have been OK with used.Laptop has a heavy feel as it’s all meatal. My laptop came with Windows 10 Pro but upgraded immediately to 11 Pro without any issues.I was concerned an i5 with 8 GB memory may be too slow for me. Happy to say it runs perfect for my uses. I’m a mid-life adult using it for web browsing, light excel and streaming video. All work great. I plan to use this for at least 5 years. Can’t beat it for the price. Microsoft makes good hardware devices.

  28. Here’s why. I needed a smaller, lighter weight laptop for travel. I opted out of calculator keys on the right the shrink the size (can buy an external calculator keypad if needed), so it fits in my small travel bag. Weighs so much less than my older laptops making transport easier. I chose a refurbished unit and it saved me money plus operates better than my older laptop.

  29. Bought this to replace Microsoft surface tablet (old series 3 now losing battery life) for travel use. Light practical laptop with excellent screen and good battery life. Good price for features.Major drawback is lack of backlit keyboard. Did not realize how much I needed it until I did not have it .This is a big enough issue in a travel machine that I no longer use as travel machine.

Great computer for the price. smooth fast and looks nearly new. battery life is decent. I would recommend getting through a couple of charge cycles before you give it the final verdict. Would purchase again without a question!

  33. Laptop is great, has some Windows 11 bugs but I was able to fix it through googling.Battery is not as advertised, only able to get out around 6-8 hours instead of 16

  34. Bought this for my daughter for her senior year in High School. It has a nice and sleek look to it. Soft key lard and love that it’s touch screen.

  35. Good computer

This laptop has beyond filled all the needs I have for it. It’s nothing crazy fancy but the mechanics are incredibly smooth ontop of just a sleek feeling over all. I was offered a free upgrade to Windows 11 when I was setting up which was really nice. So far I’ve not had a single issue with this device. The batty life is long. The power cable is also very sleek. It’s just a very aesthetic device. Programs run smoothly. Would recommend, especially for the price.

  37. Purchased this a couple weeks ago. First off it arrived in some kind of Amazon recycled cardboard box instead of Microsoft’s original retail packaging. Couldn’t really tell if this is brand new though. After initial setup I noticed the battery always stays at 0% even when plugged in. Left it plugged in overnight and it’s been 0% ever since. Obviously the battery is defective. Then I requested for a refund. As I live overseas I’d need to ship it back to the seller, which is a third-party seller in Florida BTW, meaning I have to ask the seller to reimburse the shipping charges, as opposed to having Amazon doing this for me. It turns out I have to pay some USD$200 to ship it back first and chances are I may not get reimbursed at all as the seller doesn’t seem to think they have to pay for it. After some chatting Amazon service reps don’t think it’s their responsibility either and keep asking me to ask the seller to pay for shipping or ship it back first then claim reimbursement later, which I doubt will ever happen.I also reached out to local Microsoft asking about getting a replacement. They were helpful but also made sure to let me know that any replacement won’t be a brand new machine. So I’m kind of stuck here not knowing what to do next. Pissed, obviously. This is why I’m writing this review.BTW upon checking the serial number MS says my machine is enterprise bulk purchase model, not a retail one. Not sure if this info matters at all but though you might wanna know.

  38. I wasn’t sure I would be happy with a refurbished laptop so I didn’t expect much. I powered it up right away and did all the updates. First time using it I was very impressed, it is light but very well built. The battery lasts a long time and I have zero complaints. We’ll worth the money.

  39. I originally purchased this laptop to run adobe design software for school. I have had it for years now and it has been reliable and worked for what I needed to do. The drive space it has isn’t much so I had to get an mSATA to USB drive to be able to store all my applications and assignments. Otherwise, this is an excellent purchase but I would recommend getting the warranty because the touchscreen is fragile and very expensive to replace. I used the warranty once and it saved my a couple hundred dollars on the touchscreen repair.

  41. Equipo ultra ligero, con un tamaño optimo, adecuado y cómodo para trabajar.Lo que note es que la cámara incorporada no es compatible con Windows Hello, sin embargo, esto se compensa con el lector de huellas.

  42. It’s dead and won’t turn on just after the 30 day warranty. I would not buy from this company ever again. If you buy it, make sure you turn it on and off many times in the first 30 days.

  43. This laptop is lightweight and has a bigger screen as I was looking for. Love it. It’s all that I expected. Light abs easy to travel with. Great price also!! Easy to set up and use!
