  1. I have used these instruments for several years, both for my own children and for a small preschool that I run out of the home. The kids like the colors, the sounds, and the variety. With the amount of use they get, they do wear out, but hold up well enough that I have bought the same set twice. When we learn about music in preschool, I start by telling the children the names of the instruments and how to properly make the sound. I then cover them with a towel or blanket and make the sound underneath it, and the kids guess which instrument I used. If they name it properly, I hand them the instrument and we go on until everyone has one. Another game is to have them cover their eyes, then I play a few instruments in sequence, then have them open their eyes and try to repeat the sequence. We go from there to more active playing and dancing with the instruments, we talk about playing soft and loud, fast and slow, and I let them take turns calling the shots for everyone while marching around the room. They also enjoy playing free form, where anything goes and they can dance and play however they like (as long as they aren’t being destructive, of course). For some fun toddler/preschool songs to play in conjunction with these instruments, my kids enjoy Greg and Steve’s music, particularly the freeze song from their ‘Kids in Motion’ album. As mentioned by other reviewers, the tambourine is always the first to go. The wooden part is fine, but the cover tears. I’ve reinforced the bottom of it with a circle of tag board and decorated the top with thin, colorful paper to make them last longer. If all else fails, I just take the cover off completely and the kids still enjoy using the circle part, which has yet to break. The second most common problem is that the black elastic on the clapper will wear out with time and usage. That is an easy fix. I just snip a hair tie, thread it through, and tie it on tightly. The wooden portion is still strong, and I just replace the hair tie as needed. After seven years, my first pair of maracas has finally succumbed to the toddlers continually smacking them together (which I discourage in favor of shaking), and the handle has come off of the cymbals. I am back to buy a third set.For normal home usage, this set will probably last quite a while. Encourage your child to shake the maracas, tap the tambourine (not slap or punch), and they will be able to get quite a bit of mileage out of these instruments.

  2. Good quality for the most part. I’m happy with everything besides one thing. On the xylophone sticks, the ball at the top came off. Luckily, I am always watching my daughter when she is playing but she’s 16 months and it came off. She had it in her mouth and could’ve choked on it, so be cautious.

  3. I bought the Stoies set and the similar Looikoos set at the same time to compare. Many items appear exactly the same; drum, maracas, & wood sounder. There are a few slight differences. For example the hand bells. The construction and sound is superior in this set then the bells in the Looikoos set. The drum also sounds a tad richer. This set has a flute that is adequate, but could be better in clarity and picking up the notes. If you are buying for the flute, keep looking. The other set came with a xylophone that offers a nice rich sound that you don’t get with the plastic toys and this set did not have a xylophone to compare it to. Last, and this is a super small detail. This set has a nice cotton carrying bag and limited packing materials. It was thoughtfully out together to minimize waste. The other set has a plastic carrying bag and a lot more packaging. All in all, very small differences between the two sets. But my slight preference is for this one.

  4. Nos encantó el tamaño y el timbre del sonido. Es fácil de tocar.

  5. Fun, beginner instrument with images on how to produce each note. It helps to have some idea of what notes are and some instruction on how to play but there are online videos with basic instructions and you can find simple songs online as well. Sounds lovely!

  6. My granddaughter likes this ocarina. It’s more like a whistle though. Much higher pitched than I expected given it’s supposed to be an alto instrument. I’m a musician and I would not classify this as alto. It’s also quite fragile. She dropped it on the carpet and it broke shortly after I gave it to her. She can still play it, but I won’t be buying another one either way. It is beautiful, or it was until she broke it.

  7. Really bad. Makes no proper sound, let alone music. Totally regret buying this.

  8. These are a basic set of music tinker toys that are actually not as loud as I would have even hoped. Can’t believe Im saying that but I guess I expected more noise when I purchased noisy toys? 🙂 Anyways, sometimes it’s a good thing. The wooden zipper sounding instrument only has about four ridges to slide the stick across and the rattles are pretty light shakers. The set it good quality though! I use it for my 18 month old’s “Music class” (I find a good free you tube music class and we play along). It is loved in our home!

  9. These are fantastic! This is the third instrument I have tried to learn and it is by far my favourite. Worth the money! More people should be playing these!

  10. Gave this to my musician nephew, it seems very interested in learning a new instrument!Nice sound quality, and crafted nicely, although the plastic case is cheaply made!

  11. The media could not be loaded.  I’m excited to give these as a gift to a close friends three year old child. Attached is the video I made to send his mom to make sure she was OK with these sounds/noises in her home. 🙂 overall am pleased!

  12. Es muy divertido de tocar, una vez que aprendes a usarlo bien puedes tocar casi cualquier canción y la gente se entretiene mucho viéndote.

  13. This was a gift for someone who has loved music since childhood, writes and performs. And he has always been drawn to unusual or different instruments. This was one of three we gave him this Christmas. He immediately started playing it.

  14. We love instruments in our household, and I picked up this one as something different to add to the mix. Whether or not its a high-quality one, I couldn’t say, but it does give a decent impression. Definitely good enough for playing for personal enjoyment or at gatherings as a little extra fun.It comes with a neck strap, which fits over my son’s very large head only with difficulty. The rest of us had no issues, however. The booklet it comes with offers the first songs and enough to get a bit familiar with the instrument. It’s already offered us playing joy and is a nice addition to our musical moments.

  15. 1 y/o loves this. Noisy enough (especially the drum/tambourine) which we like compared to some of the way too quiet toys. A nice mix that it good for sharing. Really well made, I expect these to last forever.

  16. I gifted this set to my grand-niece and she loves playing with them. A great set for family interaction.

  17. My son is a huge fan of this set, so far the maracas and tambourine are his favorite but he does get down with the triangle sometimes too. Good assortment of instruments to play with and really nice that they come in a bin to keep everything together.

  18. High quality and fast delivery

  19. My nephew who is 2 loved this. The instruments are great quality. They sound great. I love that they are wooden. Very good quality for the price.

  20. Plenty of variety for young composers. Great quality

  21. The media could not be loaded.  My 2 year old can use all of the instruments, they’re very easy to handle, and seem quite durable. The xylophone is my favorite for sound quality. The tambourine is a little hard for big hands to use but my daughter has no difficulty. The surface is paper so I worry it will break soon (we’ve had it for 2 weeks). All in all pretty impressed.

  22. I love these and that they are natural unpainted wood. My baby loves playing with them and the variety of sounds they make. I consider them high quality and really like that it came with a bag to keep them all together. If you are getting them for a younger baby that likes to put things in their mouths then beware the hand cymbal edges are a little sharp and there is a small plastic piece on the triangle that can be swallowed. Not complaints just tips for young babies. Easy to set aside for the future.

  23. I have been looking for some nicely made musical instruments for my niece and these are truly awesome. I unwrapped each one and looked them over. So well made and the wood is of good quality.Cannot wait to see her play with these for years to come. The whole family can get involved.

  24. Son loved this instrument, but it only held his attention for a week or so. It now sits on a shelf getting dusty. I’d recommend saving a bit of money and buying the smaller version.

  25. Great little music box! Love that the triangle is real and authentic sounding and the tambourine is very fun. The best possible thing about this set (all overwhelmed and overstimulated mums please stand up) is that none of the instruments are TOO loud, in fact they are at a decibel where I don’t want to scream in misery from so much noise. Well done Melissa and Doug! Our toddler has been non stop playing with these since they arrived.

  26. My daughter loves hers! It plays very nicely. However, the lanyard it was suppose to come with was not in the package.

  27. I like the whole product and I’m getting used to it. I just wish there were markings on the side so you could find middle c to reference your music learning

  28. I’m sorry to tell you that this ocarina is not in tune and is an out of tune instrument. The position of the last hole is also incorrect. This ocarina must be calibrated by filing the holes.Unfortunately my white example has a detached ceramic part inside which does not allow this operation without damaging the musical instrument.Could I have been unlucky?!Yes, i’m sure of this !The seller was very kind and thoughtful and also very professional in reporting the problem to the manufacturer. In any case, I am very satisfied with this experience and will continue to buy the products offered by mguitarstore!

  29. We like the size of instrument and the tone. Christmas present for Ggdaughter, she’s 3 yrs old.

  30. This kid Otamatone, well is loved so much! So fun, cute and if ya got talent! You’ll really have fun playing your favorite music and even if you’re keyless like me , you’ll still have fun! Smile and laugh and feel HaPpY! I love to shout out play Xena theme or oh play amazing grace and oh play melody x and WOW my son can play them all and pretty much everything in a lifetime of known notes. Super Fun!

  31. We gave this to a one-year-old for her birthday who loved it. She immediately started playing with this over some of her other gifts, which I consider to be a success. She may have been a bit young for some of the instruments, but she really took to the maracas. It felt really high-quality and was a great gift.

  32. Excellent quality! Great size. Durable. Loved by my 2 year old. Worth the $

  33. I bought a set to have when I teach 4-5 year olds once a month. We learn a Bible song that goes with our lesson and so when I introduced them yesterday at church they loved them. One little boy sure made some noise with those cymbals! I told them the Bible tells us to make a joyful noise into the Lord and those boys and girls certainly did that! They were precious.

  34. The media could not be loaded.  Have both of the deluxes. There both super cool to have in the collection and both amazing musical instruments. Had the white deluxe for over two years and recently got the black deluxe. Definitely fun and worth your time if you liked the original. (Would recommend the black one)

  35. Another item I bought for my autistic son and he loves it. Easy to play he figured it out right away. Its durable and requires batteries. He loves playing it and it sounds nice. Worth the money.

  36. I purchased this for my son quite a long time ago but never reviewed it.My son is very musically inclined (Viola, Piano..etc) and still to this day, he still uses it from time to time. Of course, as the batteries get low, it makes some very warped sounds, lol. In hindsight after 4+ years, I would have to say this was a valued purchase.

  37. This is a really fun little wooden musical set for kids I have seven granddaughters and one family and it gives him enough instruments they can all play something and have a little band. I love it and they love it!

  38. Would recommend! The recorder doesn’t play all the notes, so hard for an adult to play a song…but our son is 1 and he loves it.

  39. Bella Esteticamente e intonata

  40. Got this set as a Christmas gift for my then 19 month old. She’s 22 months now and absolutely loves the instruments. She runs around the living room smashing the cymbals and banging the tambourine. She shakes the bells along to Mr. Golden Sun (one of her fave songs) and loves to play tje xylophone. I love that it’s exposing her to music at such a young age. I hope she goes on the develop a love of music and creativity. Also love the storage bag that’s included. Makes keeping everything together so easy!

  41. Saw these in Japan 10 years ago and always wanted to try it. So much fun. Great for beginners to music and experts.

  42. These instruments are well made and excellent quality. My 1 year old grandson loved them.

  43. Great for birthday present for my 3 years old grandson’s!

  44. Our toddler loves music and loves making music. The xylophone sounds really nice. He used it for 6 months now and everything is holding up so far. We are satisfied with the quality.

  45. This is great fun for the entire family. We truly enjoy these instruments, there is something for everyone but kids and babies use it too ( babies w/supervision)It truly sounds like a ensemble ❤️ from around the world 🌎

  46. Bought for my granddaughter beautifully made safe durable and nice size for little hands

  47. I play piano and violin. I had seen the Theramin years ago and thought it was really a marvelous instrumentthen I saw the Otamatone! I had to have it. I bought it and found it easy to learnI thoroughly enjoy this instrument. I have fun with it. and I am entertaining friends and family with my new prowess at how to play wonderful little songs accompanied by my friend at the piano.I Highly recommend this new experience in with a musical instrument.
