  1. The item arrived broken 🙁 I am SUPREMELY disappointed because I was so excited at the thought of having an effective method to combat my nemesis that is the mischievously thriving fruit fly colony which plagues me, and this item arrived this morning broken. 🙁 The blades of the fan internally are not connected and are banging about inside. Though I don’t normally pay full price for things unless necessary (I either wait for a good sale or use applicable coupons/promo codes), I took the plunge on this purchase due to my need for a competent and efficient resolve combined with it’s GLOWING reviews! First, I had to wait 9 days to receive the item, which I wasn’t happy about, but not upset either. I have literally been checking tracking daily and looking forward to it’s arrival. Then it arrives *HAPPY DAY*. I opened the package, removed the unit (felt/heard something odd but didn’t think too much of it at that moment), reviewed the directions, plugged it in and although the light came on, the fan did not. I thought maybe I need to press a particular button or what-have-you, so I re-read the directions. Nope, it should be automatic. So I then began inspecting the unit and realized the fan blades were not connected. I then even looked for a way to open the unit without busting it so that I can fix it myself (I’m incredibly handy and that’s how much I wanted this to work!). No go. I could probably open it up, but then it wouldn’t be returnable. Ok, so THEN I go to the item link on Amazon and as of earlier today, it said “This item is currently unavailable” followed by something to the effect of ‘and we don’t know if or when it will become available’. I attempted to contact the seller to no avail. My only viable option was and is to return it. I don’t want to return it for a refund or leave a bad review. Rather, I want the working unit I paid and patiently waited for. Errrrr. I decided to go about my day knowing I’d come back to this later and here I am. … I pull the item up this evening, it is in fact available again, but instead of the $39.79 price I paid 9 days ago, it is right now (6/15/2018) listed at $54.49. Whaaaa?? So I am leaving this review in hopes that the seller will contact me and make good on my purchase, at which point I would update my review to reflect the working conditions of this seemingly enigmatic device. In summary, this 1 star review encompasses only that the item arrived broken and therefore did not operate as intended. A working unit may very well be worthy of all it’s positive reviews. And maaaaybe even the new $54.49 price.I hope I am a unique case. I also hope this review was of help to you.Update 6/17/18:The seller contacted me today apologizing for my inconvenience and explaining that Amazon is responsible for the damage done during the shipping of this product. I responded immediately that I appreciate the response and although I completely understand that Amazon assumes the shipping responsibility, I am also concerned that I cannot repurchase a working unit at the price I paid 2 weeks ago. I inquired how this can be rectified, stating that I fully intend to update my review according to their level of service and the actual benefits of a working unit.  And now I await their response.Honestly, if I have to repurchase at the higher price, I won’t and I’ll leave my review star at 1. It’s not the price as much as the principle. Products can be damaged in shipping, that’s understandable. But the seller is also responsible for commitment. So I’m really hoping they come through with a reasonable resolve that honors the price I paid for a working unit. I’ll keep you posted.Update 7/1/18:The seller not only replaced my originally bought unit, but included extras as well. They have been extremely diligent in correspondence and I can honestly say that I am not only satisfied, but impressed. With that said, I would not have altered my review to 5 stars for customer service alone. …these units works amazingly! The home I live in was built in 1924 and does not sport insulation the way a new home would. So pests are/can be/were a problem. The units do in fact attract flying things very well! The sticky pad of results had 2 bugs I didn’t know I had and don’t recognize. I am extremely happy with my purchase! And may very well buy more. The unit itself is aesthetically pleasing and is relatively quiet. Night is the best time for results since that’s when it’s darkest and the bugs can ‘see’ the light. The blue light transitions in brightness, which is even more effective in attracting it’s prey.I’m changing my review from a 1 star to a 5 star. I saw other reviews stating it was a flimsy design. I do get what they’re saying, but how thick must this unit be to rectify that?? It works as intended and looks good doing it. The bottom is easy to open to check and/or replace the sticky pad. There are only 2 buttons so it’s super easy to operate. And it doesn’t look like a bug catcher at all. No one would know. So I feel it’s ‘flimsiness’ (is that a word?) is of no concern. As long as it performs, who cares how heavy or thick it is?This is 5 stars from someone who had to work for it. I hope this review helped you! Happy bug hunting 🙂

  2. I purchased a scratchNdent and found my item had been used and slightly damaged, the top swirl grill was missing a small piece, and one of the sticky disks had been put into the unit already with a gnat stuck to it. Okay. I plugged it in, pushed one of the setting buttons (standard) and the light came on and the little fan makes a little bit of breeze, but wet a finger and hold it at the bottom and it is breezing out.It is also bigger than I expected, but I have such a tiny bug issue in this place, I don’t care as long as it works. Something was mentioned about it works better in lower light levels. So. I plugged it in and set it up in a place I have been having issues. Four hours later, I pick it up to look down in. There’s a lot more than one gnat on the mat already. It’s doing the job. Great. The local little winged wildlife has resisted: letting the pots dry out good between waterings, watering with a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water, top mulching the pots, and the yellow sticky trap things. This seems to be vacuuming them up. YAY! If this works out I will get a couple more as I have plants in a few areas in my house.Trust me, I have at least six different microbugs including fruit flies, fungus gnats (arrgh!), a different gnat, and not sure exactly but a few are like tiny tiny various sorts of beetles… keeping the swarms down would be wonderful, without killing my plants. I will update this as it goes..The picture isn’t quite truelight because it is fairly dark in there, but. That’s what it sorta looks like ON in the dark. To the right that is a matte BLACK surface that it’s reflecting off of.Edit: my house is large, my buggie collection is way down on one end of the house where I have my first one, but. I just got a second one, also scratchNdent, to deal with the other end.I seen where someone complained that it is a fly-spa. This will NOT work on houseflies. They are too big and strong to be whooshed down onto the sticky pad. There are other ones built ($60-80) as wall sconces that WILL do the houseflies. This isn’t built for that. However all the assorted little gnats and such are collecting at alarming rates on my sticky pads. It is nice to sit at my computer in the evening and not kill at least a dozen tiny assorted buggies. And my fungus gnat problem that came in with some potting soil mix, is pretty much gone.I can’t say enough, if you have a grow booth and issues with little critters, that putting one of these in the booth at about two weeks for a night will not affect your grow and if there is anything in there it will clear out most of the problems. I have one room where the booth and most of my houseplants live (plus my spring starts as I go into that season as I update this) and the first one is outside the grow booth on the floor where it clearsthat room pretty well.Second one installed near the kitchen sink and other bathroom on other end of house, as there is a persistent problem there. I don’t think it will catch sewer flies but those tend to respond to hot vinegar flushed through a running disposal with hot sink water, then follow with a cut up lemon and some icecubes run through the disposer. I will let you know if I get those little buggers back and if it can catch one or not.On both I am turning them off during the day and on after dark, as that is when the UV light seems to be the most visible to the little winged pests. I also want to see if the kitchen one will draw spiders. There are a few kinds that are drawn to dead prey, and though I have sticky traps for them, if this will be able to stick one down or not if it comes to check it out. Another thing I will update.Edit update. Plant area one is catching mostly gnats, vatloads of them. Kitchen has only a few, but is getting the fruit flies from the bananas. I put spider traps near both and the kitchen catch is up. Could not be happier with both Katchys. Have spring bedding and flower starts going and a new grow in the tent. I’ve put one in the tent a few times and no gnattie problem (last time will be day/ night 18 so as not to mess up auto blooming). No chemicals. Still worth the price. Replacing the sticky pads is super easy too.Edit: very late fall. We are the house servants of two mixed breed part Persian purries. The grey and white one in particular has very fine hair and a very full coat despite daily brushing/grooming. So we have slightly pre-used fur all over. Plus lots of house dust-joys of where we live. I have to take a q-tip to the top of both my Katchy’s weekly to keep the house glorp from obstructing airflow (also have to do it to our tower fans). Still catching the tiniest no-see-ums, fungus gnats and fruit flies. With fall garden harvest, the fruit flies moved in. I added a capful of apple cider taped off with a few holes next to the kitchen one, and it was literally carpeted with fruit flies in the bottom. The plants that came in brought micro buggies, and those numbers are quickly dropping as well.A Katchy doesn’t instantly get your population but in days you should have a disgusting collection on the bottom pad… I purchased a no- zap UV/sticky pad catcher meant for houseflies and installed over the toilet at the ceiling. It also does the job with a little time. So. Katchy do their job well, are easy to use and maintain, and paired with a true flycatcher, really helps keep you unbothered. $40 well spent.

  3. I bought two of these because we were dealing with a hostage situation and I was desperate. I repotted a plant and apparently the soil was the Trojan horse. Anyways.I love these. I love how effective they are. I used all 8 sticky traps in two weeks and they were all disgustingly full with treasonous flies. I don’t even know where the flies were coming from, but they just kept coming to the machine.I swapped out the traps every few days. I recommend having a container of some kind to put the old traps in to wait for all the bugs to die. This way you don’t restart an out break from the garbage. When the traps get full there’s obviously less sticky surface left and you get some flies that are trapped in the machine but not dead yet. I just used the plastic the traps came in.There’s reviews saying it didn’t work….. I’m wondering if y’all didn’t know to put the sticky side up cause I have no clue how this wouldn’t work.My only complaint is that the refill pads are expensive. I don’t mind the initial investment into the machine, but a set of 4 per machine is just not enough when dealing with an outbreak.

  4. I purchased your KATCHY mosquito repeller for my parents as they are experiencing a lot of mosquito problems. I brought yours since I found so many good reviews on the product but I was shocked with the equipment when it is catching hardly 10 to 12 mosquitos when there are several of them circling it in a closed room during the night after switching off the light. Now I believe the reviews posted are phony after using the product. The product by itself looks good but does not function as advertised.

  5. Would prefer to have more than 5 stickers for the base, because it gets full really fast and now I have to try to find these stickers in the market and I don’t know where from..supplier should have it as an option when you buy Katchy to be able to buy more of these as they are essential for the use of the product.

  6. We used these in our bathroom this fall when it just got swarmed with gnats! We cleaned the drains, kept the counter wiped down and sinks clean and nothing seemed to help until we got these little gems. They worked great and in a weeks time we are gnat free!

  7. We stayed for an extended period of time in a tropical location. These pads were literally invaluable. They worked so well we even caught 4 small mice. That not withstanding, we were able to greatly reduce the crawly critters inside greatly. I will be purchasing these again and again. In fact, I won’t travel without them now. You can fold them into tents, but I prefer to lay them out open so I can easily check them. Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. All of my reviews reflect my honest, personal experience with the reviewed item – your experience may be different. I am not influenced by any outside source. I receive/accept NO free products or discounts that are not available to all shoppers- ever. I also refuse to ‘change’ my review for a refund of a product I have given a poor review – and that is offered from time to time. For some reason our shopper ranks are no longer visible – so, to give you a little more info about me, I am a top 50 reviewer (#30 the highest rank achieved). It’s a shame they phased this rating system out because it did help you see who has been around the longest and who is a trustworthy reviewer.  I’ve been doing reviews for over 25 years with Amazon – over 6,200 reviews posted, those reviews have been viewed well over 50,000 times, including well over 26,000 likes. BOTTOM LINE:  I pay for all my stuff, just like you do.

  8. I ordered these in addition to the plugin version by Safer. These have not caught a single fly, but the plug ins frequently fill up. Save your money and get more of those.

  9. I am beyond happy with this fruit fly trap! I will recommend it to anyone dealing with these things. I considered buying the plug ins but decided to try this first because it’s so much cheaper. The price does not reflect the quality. I’ve caught about 20 fruit flies in about 2 days. I didn’t even think I had that many flying around.

  10. 4 nights in and fruit flies as bad as ever, not worth the money

  11. I have these super tiny ants that started showing up on my kitchen sink. At first I thought they were kinda cute as they were so small and I’d only seen a few of them. Fast forward a few weeks and now they’re all over the place!! I bought the safer spider and insect traps to whittle their numbers down hopefully. Left one in the heart of their traffic about a week ago. I checked it today and not one damn ant or baby ant rather. It might be great on other critters but it was utterly ineffective for me. I gave them 3 stars because it might be great on regular ants or whatever

  12. I don’t like to use pesticides indoors because of my cats, so this seemed like a good alternative. It’s not as effective as spraying poison all over the place, but it’s definitely safer. It’s sticky, but it lets go of skin and fur if your cat gets a little too curious and tries to play with it. Since putting these down I’ve seen things I didn’t know could get into my house. Yuck, and thank you for making these things!

  13. Let op, het artikel is aangekomen zonder EU stekker en zonder lijmborden. Let De verkoper heeft hiervoor een gedeeltelijke terugbetaling aangeboden.

  14. We’ve had a bit of a fruit fly problem this summer and I finally decided to get a trap. The first 2 days it worked really well! By the third day, just being in the proximity of our ceiling fan, almost 1/4 of the fluid had evaporated. It lasted a total of 7 days – when it’s advertised as 4 weeks. For the price I can’t complain – it did do its job and cut down on the population significantly.

  15. Very deceitful, pay attention, this doesn’t include the wall unit, what a scam!

  16. Ok sooo I didnt expect there to be a smell but you dont notice it after awhile. It seriously works more than anything else i have ever used and it lasted about 35 days…it was full of fruit flies and so gross but it works! I will definitely buy again if this is an issue again

  17. He comprado muchas cosas para mosquitos e insectos y este ha sido el mejor y más funcional

  18. Doesn’t work without outlet plug in.

  19. This thing fills up with bugs within 2 weeks of putting it in the garage.

  20. I am absolutely disgusted posting this! I had a horrible fruit fly problem this fall. Never before! I tried a few different things but nothing worked. I had the plug in thing with the sticky card, which worked well but I just had too many! I ordered these and within a day I noticed a difference. I didn’t realize just how bad the problem was until I put these out and they swarmed them! Will definitely buy again if needed!

  21. this was a waste of money on my opinion because they don’t last more than two weeks and I still can see flies flying around of it like nothing its there

  22. It doesn’t seem to work well. I have been using it for weeks with no catches. I did see a bug in one, but I looked a day later and it was gone. I am not sure if the bugs are not attracted, if it isn’t sticky enough, or both. Regardless, I won’t try it again.

  23. Easy chemical free way to kill bugs.

  26. I use these near entryways to home and love them! Bugs cannot get off once they are on there. I have caught small snakes and scorpions as well.

  27. I am very satisfied with this product. It works, but if you’re looking for a fast solution, this is not it. I’ve had it for a few weeks, it is still catching the fruit flies. I can’t complain, since the glue card is full. I have 2, one in my kitchen and one in my bathroom. It’s the kitchen one that fills up, the bathroom one takes longer. I like the design of the unit, it’s modern and fits in to decor. Also, it’s handy that the unit can be swiveled around from the plug, so it can fit literally anywhere, even if upside down. I bought more glue cards, the generic is totally doable. Overall, great, effective purchase and I’m looking forward to being completely fruit fly free very soon.

  28. It’s been working pretty well in my apartment when I got a sudden influx of flies out of nowhere. Be patient and you’ll see results. Turn off other lights around it so the insects don’t get attracted to other light sources. One flaw, the insects tend to gravitate to the lower part because that’s where the light is strongest, you can see it in my photo. The top portion of the card gets ignore. They should extend the light to go further up. Overall I was happy enough to buy 4 more.

  29. These things work MIRACLES! Super convenient and simple. Very cost friendly in comparison to paying for terminators or other sprays. They just plug into wall outlet and release a blue light, similar to a night light. They honestly do not have to be changed too frequently so very cost efficient and easy to manage. They work fast and the results will last. Highly recommend this product.

  30. Silent, but extremely effective. The blue light attracts flying insects at night, and by morning, the trap is full of bothersome bugs. We had a persistent fly living in our master bathroom. I plugged in the unit, and by the next morning, the persistent fly was captured. No swatting with bug guts splattering everywhere, no buzzing when bugs hit electrical unit. Quiet and very effective.

  31. I’ve had these put out for almost a week and so far nothing. I put them in an ant high traffic areas not one ant or any other bug. Another waste of money unless of course you have better luck than I did.

  32. I loved everything about this. I had a real bad infestation of fruit flies in my room and the bathroom. Soon as I plugged it in, it was working. Super simple and easy to understand. Worked so well I had to get more backings! I was changing it twice a day, and highly suggest this for any infestations. The light is perfect, and attracts more flying insects than a tv

  33. When the bugs come out probably No of it works

  34. I bought two and put one near our fruit basket to catch fruit flies and several fruit fries are stuck to it. Another we put near indoor plants and there are lots gnat fly stuck to it. It attracts fruit fly and gnats and they get stuck.

  35. I keep this near my fruit basket to keep fruit flies away. It works great. I highly recommend to keep the flies out. This is only the refill pack, not the trap.

  36. I live in Southern California and with so much rain this year we have lots of fruit flies around and they bite! 🙁 We’ve tried everything – cider vinegar, Terro traps. They kind of work but looking for something that would be more effective. Bought 4 of these and they are GREAT! You can see how many flies they catch. I read the reviews and most said it was good for smaller insects so I can say it works for small fruit flies and small moths. Not at all sure if it would catch larger flies. But for what I need it’s perfect. My ONLY complaint is that these work based on the light attracting them. So, they don’t work during the day. It would be great to but a scent in them that attracted the flies (like a Glade plug in) PLUS the sticky surface. That way the scent could work in the daytime to attract them. Otherwise good product.

  37. I didn’t know that I had so many gnats (and perhaps other tiny flies?) in the master bathroom and my office. All I knew is that it seemed that there was something that was doing a “drive-by-bite”, and it was so fast that I could never see it, hence I could never catch it. I recently killed a couple of gnats in the master bath, something I hadn’t seen in the first 2 years we first purchased this home, so I feel like this problem is new.I started looking into how to fix the situation, and I knew right away that I was not interested in creating a whole bunch of contraptions of apple cider vinegar with sweeteners, etc, to catch these. I didn’t want jars of liquid all over my house. So, as usual, I knew someone on Amazon had figured out an easier way, and here we are! Now, I definitely need to figure out the root cause, but in the meantime, the solution offered by the Safer Home gnat/fly trap is fantastic. At first, it seemed to be slow going, but within a half hour, one gnat was already on the card. I thought, well, that was probably the one who had been continuously biting my feet and legs! Later, I saw another stuck on the card and then didn’t see much action for a couple of days. Days later there were a couple more…and more! I was thinking, yes, yes, invite all of your friends and family! And it seems that they did. Within 2 weeks or so, the card was nearly covered!Occasionally, I will turn on the light in the bath and find one or two crawling along the edge, or dancing behind the card, and then it jumps on the card and back off. It’s fascinating! If one is running along the edge, I will help him meet his fate sooner, and if not, he will eventually stick to the card with everyone else. What I do notice though is that in the afternoon one gnat (or two?) wanders into the office where I am working after I’ve closed the light-blocking curtains to block the heat and sun. (I guess they are drawn in by the lamp?) So, now I am wondering if I should put another Safer Home trap right on my desk, or by my legs because all of the drive-by-biting makes it difficult to concentrate on what I’m working on.For anyone who says “it didn’t work” may need a bit more patience, or they have too much light in the place where the night light is placed. I placed mine in the master bath, and it’s pretty dark in there, but there’s no door to the main portion of the bath (only where the toilet is). I thought that the light from the gigantic sliding glass windows in the office would affect how the product worked, but it hasn’t. In other words, too much light coming in from elsewhere wouldn’t draw the gnats to the UV light in the bath, but this must not be the case for my master bath.I am so thankful for this product, and I recommend it!P.S. I have attached 2 pictures of what the trap looks like in the master bath with a bit of light filtering in from the big windows in the office. It seems that if you can get your space at least this dark, this product will do wonders for your space – and your ability to concentrate while working!!

  38. These little wall plug bug catchers are powerful!! We’ve had other bug catching devices that use light also, but these work amazingly better! Super easy to install and noticeable change within a day, with almost all our fruit flies/gnats gone within a week. It’s also been fun checking them once a day to see how many more it caught.

  39. Like that these attract bugs without any toxic odor! Safe and easy to use and eliminated my fruit fly problem in a short period of time!

  40. I bought two of these hoping to eliminate gnats from my kitchen and office. I was concerned that it might draw bugs to that area. It is definitely working based on what it catches and there are no more gnats in those spaces. I have also noticed far fewer gnats in other spaces. I like the blue light and find it a great night light. I am planning on buying one more to keep near my plants where I think the gnats are originating.

  41. Super easy, I love using this system. Works great! We put between my plants and the dogs water. No more bugs, lasts a long time, the bugs are always attracted to it, and it’s a cheap way to keep the bugs out

  42. I won’t buy any other in-home bug killer. These are safe for my home without compromising on value. They attract SO many different types of bugs and kill them all the same. I even convinced my office to buy a few for pesky gnats. We keep ours by our kitchen sink for that very reason. Plus, they serve as a nightlight too!

  43. These traps actually work and do as they’re supposed to. It’s perfect for all the tiny flies trying to make their way in as the season gets warmer. The traps themselves are very sticky, so be careful when setting it up
