  1. Absolutely fantastic product! I host cream teas in our village for two days in July and, as we keep the doors to the garden open, usually get lots in flies in the kitchen (it used to be a barn). I’ve tried other products but this was great – I put it just outside the door and it caught huge numbers of flies. We had maybe one fly in the kitchen which was such an improvement. Very occasionally I noticed the smell (disgusting) but moved it out of the way and it still caught them. It’s still catching them a week later. I will definitely be buying more bait and looking forward to a fly free summer!

  2. I purchased this for in door use, as i had fly issue in the back of the house After a few days the smell was disgusting and it wasn’t being that effective so I moved it outside, just out of the way. Within a couple of days the trap was fully active, capturing flies at an amazing rate. the house remained clear of most flies (just not the really really small ones). This is highly recommended – if you want it for a BBQ or specific date, its worth setting up a few days in advance as it takes some time for it to get going.

  3. Ich verstehe die negativen Bewertungen nicht.Nach einer Woche war das Teil bereits Rand voll mit fliegen. Ich hatte daneben noch noch anderes Produkt und darin war eine einzige fliege.

  4. OMG this thing is amazing! We are using it at our cottage on the lake and we have always had a lot of flies buzzing around, but I actually purchased this hoping it would get rid of the sand flies/fleas/gnats that are so annoying in the spring/early summer. I am sad to say this does NOT work for those, but it is INCREDIBLE how well it works for the regular annoying flies!!!I originally purchased a 3-pack of the quart’ish size containers that had a bait and chain included with each trap. I mixed up the bait as instructed and agree with many of the reviewers that this smells, so I brought them outside to fill the next two. I immediately had flies attracted to the trap while filling them!!! It says to wait a couple hours before placing the traps (guessing to let the bait dissolve), which I only did the first time because it stinks up the house. I hung the traps and within hours every trap had so many flies I couldn’t even count them!! By the next day they were 3/4 full in the morning, so I added some water (not fun when there are flies swarming around you as you do this) and by the evening, the traps were filled to the brim!!! I then ordered three more traps to increase the coverage on our property, but sadly I did not check the description close enough because the 3 I ordered did not come with chains, just the trap and one bait pack each.Luckily we have some wooded land on our property, so I just take the full traps out back and fling all the dead carcasses back there. With as fast as these traps are filling, there is no way I can possible remove the carcasses and reuse the bait again, nor would I even want to try because it really smells like death has truly warmed over…so gross!! I cannot imagine cleaning the traps either, until the end of the year when I put them away for the season. Thankfully I had purchased some refill bait packets (StarBar brand) when I got the traps originally, and I highly recommend doing this if you are buying the traps. These refills smell the same as the Fly Magnet bait and are almost more effective, because I am refilling my traps within 24 hours!!! The StarBar refills have way more bait than the Fly Magnet came with, so (being thrifty) I am going to try and use 1/3 of the bait refill in each trap to see if it works just as well as a full pack does. I figure it smells the same, so they will be attracted to it. I will find out today if this works!I highly recommend this product for anyone trying to rid themselves of flies. Again, this does not work on sand flies/fleas/gnats, but it does an amazing job on flies. I am interested to find out if they work on the hornets, yellow jackets and other non-honey bees as one of the reviewers stated. If that is the case, I am buying a bunch of these for my home as our fruit trees are magnets for bees in the late summer/fall. If I could, I would give this 10 stars it is so amazing!!! I never review products, but this one deserves all the accolades they can get! Wish I invented it!!!

  5. The good news is that this works really well at catching flies. The bad news is, that it works too well at catching flies. Now I know what you’re thinking. You’re asking yourself “Self, how could working well be a bad thing?” Allow me to explain, Timmy. But first, a little back story on why I bought these things. We have a car port by our back door. And every summer, there are always a bunch of flies under the carport which inevitably get into our house (rude little buggers). I did some research and apparently this is a common issue – the stale air makes it a good place for flies to hang out and do whatever it is that flies do. After looking at all the options, I decided to buy this fly trap and hoped for the best. I followed the directions, set it up under the carport, and just like that the flies by the back door were gone and in the trap. That was day 1.The following day we noticed that while there were still no flies by the back door, the container just kept getting more and more full. And within a few days we had about 3″ of flies in the container. Now I’m not talking there were 3″ of flies that were walking around, being happy, buzzing away. There were 3″ of dead flies in this container. And while I’m happy that these little flying raisins are dead, this is way more than we had hanging out by our back door. After 3 days the container was nearly full. So I dumped it out (which is a gross process in itself), refilled it, and reset it. And sure enough, within about 3 days it was full of flies again. I am 100% convinced that the odor of this thing is attracting flies from all over town, the flies are probably sending messages to each other letting them know where this thing is at, and at this point I’m expecting a thank you note from the mayor for single handedly eliminating all flies in our town.So while it does work, and we no longer have flies by our back door, this process of having to dispose of literally hundreds of flies every few days is getting kinda tiresome. So I’m going to try to reset the trap with only a small portion of the mix in it. Maybe then I’ll only attract the flies from our house and maybe those on my block, instead of getting them traveling in from adjacent counties to feast on whatever this stuff is that’s in the trap.

  6. When I first purchased this product I didn’t think it would work. I’ve tried many at home remedies that have only caught a few so I felt like this product might be the same. We’ve had a fruit fly infestation for about a week now due to some rotten fruit. I set both containers up in my kitchen on separate counters. I did read a few reviews which recommended I take the lid with the holes off and just have an open container on the counter. We placed the containers far away from the kids and dogs. The first few hours nothing happened but the next morning we found 8 dead fruit flys in one container and 1 in the other. As the days passed more and more became attracted to the containers even with fruit and a sometimes messy table around. The pictures are from 5 days of having the open containers on the counter. It has almost rid us completely of the fruit fly infestation. We did notice that the jars were getting full so we scooped out as much as we could to keep using it for the remainder of the 21 days. There was some left over at the bottom which is the black stuff you can see in the picture. It does smell like vinegar but it’s not an overwhelming smell. It’s a great product that is very simple to use, with very minimum effort needed, and great results. I can honestly say I am very satisfied, and will be purchasing this product again if needed.

  7. If you would like to breed flies to piss off your neighbors. Set up in the corner of your yard and forget it for two months. Then go take the fly labor and delivery ward inside, remove the cap and yeet this over the fence into their yard! … In all seriousness here’s the cliff notes about this trap.1. It’s easy to set up and it works. (The only plus)CONS2. It Smells AWFUL, like poop and rotting carcass. (To draw in the flies for their sexy time together. Place somewhere far out in the yard unless you want to smell it all the time).3. Once they get caught THEY FRICKEN BREED IN THERE! I’m not joking. It’s revolting.4. Look at the picture… would you really want to clean that? They’re STILL ALIVE and will SWARM once opened. One time use ONLY!So if flies getting it on is not your fetish, I would skip this trap and look for another alternative that will work and not cause them to get it on like it’s a 1970’s conversation pit with Barry White music playing.

  8. I rarely leave Amazon reviews. But this I had to drop a review because I want others to know how great it is. We have turf in our backyard. We also have a dog. During the summer, her poop will dry up and attract tons of flies. I try to scoop her poop as often as I can. But I don’t have the time to clean it up every time after she poops. The flies get into the house and are a nuisance on our patio because it is so close to the yard. I found this little product after a fly got into the house and was buzzing over my ear at 4:30am.It was easy to assemble, straightforward, and EFFECTIVE! I’ve noticed a substantial decrease in the flies around our patio and yard. It is super gross because there are like 50+ flies dead in there. But the wrapping keeps us from seeing it. I LOVE this product. If you have a fly problem, get this. The one thing I will say is it stinks bad. But for the most part, I don’t smell it unless really close.

  9. I am a person who literally doesn’t kill flies spiders, gnats, or anything. I coexist with them and let them live… Typically!I moved to a new home near the coast in San Diego and I’ve found that my back patio will literally be swarming with flies. Particularly around my plants and rosebushes. Every time I would walk out the door at least one or two would breach the sanctity of my home and irritate me beyond belief. The excessive flies on my patio drove me to the brink of insanity so I searched high and low for the right product of mass destruction. I wanted to find a humane way, but didn’t appear to be one so I had to go big or go home. I ordered one product and it did not work at all. It maybe caught 3-4 flies. That wasn’t good enough for me, I was angry with the flies at this point, so upon further research I stumbled across this killer. By the way, I did not find the smell to be overwhelming. Yeah, it smelled somewhat but I’m not outside hanging around it all the time so it was a non-factor for me. Followed the easy set up instructions and set these bad boys outside.( I got the set of two.) Within minutes, this one did what the other did not do in over a week. Both traps had 20-30 flies in it already. As a humane person, I felt horrible, watching them entering knowing they would never leave. . I had to harden my heart and stay the course. As the day progressed, the jars became watery graves for hundreds of flies. I was able to walk out onto my patio and saw very few active flies. As traumatizing as the experience was, I ordered two more! I have a large patio space.. I also ordered refills. These things were so effective!!! If you can stomach the traps of death, I would absolutely recommend this product. I feel so excited that I will be able to enjoy my beautiful patio setting without being divebombed constantly. I’m sorry flies, I know you are an important part of the Eco system but you did this to yourselves. RIP.Update: a week into the using the traps of doom, I would safely say that almost all four jars are full of fly corpses. I hate to see them in there struggling, but like I said above, They brought this upon themselves. I can literally walk out my back patio or front door and see no active flies other than those who are struggling for survival. These contraptions walk the walk and talk the talk. If you are having fly issues, I would highly recommend these bad boys.

  10. The product works as intended but it is highly likely just vinegar and some other random added stuff. So It gets a 4 for it working. Now the 1 gets docked because of the horrible packaging. It came in a plastic bag which is fine. But one of the containers was TAPED SHUT AND STILL SENT TO ME. It was spilled into the bag and everything. How.

  11. Bought a pair due to fruit fly infestation. Worked like crazy. Containers full of floating dead flies. After 21 days, bought another pair. Both containers were empty the entire 21 days. Not one fly floating. I see them flying around. Got sticky fly paper. Some got stuck. Got a third pair, still not attracting the flies. What happened???

  14. This is the most putrid smelling thing, but that’s why it WORKS to draw in those pesky flies. I mean, within 8 minutes, I had flies swarming, and by the end of one hour, there were too many to count already inside the trap. I have had a horrid fly problem (don’t know why) but one of these on the left side of the house and one on the right side of the house, and I am fly free! They fill up pretty quickly, but even full, it is still drawing flies. I change them out once a month during the warm months. PS Because of the “poopie, death, gagging odor”, place them away from doors and windows. You won’t regret purchasing these!

  15. Cumple con lo prometido, el manejo es muy sencillo, sólo hay que tener cuidado con el pegamento del insecticida porque es bastante fuerte al tacto por si se hace contacto por accidente

  16. I am very satisfied with this product. It works, but if you’re looking for a fast solution, this is not it. I’ve had it for a few weeks, it is still catching the fruit flies. I can’t complain, since the glue card is full. I have 2, one in my kitchen and one in my bathroom. It’s the kitchen one that fills up, the bathroom one takes longer. I like the design of the unit, it’s modern and fits in to decor. Also, it’s handy that the unit can be swiveled around from the plug, so it can fit literally anywhere, even if upside down. I bought more glue cards, the generic is totally doable. Overall, great, effective purchase and I’m looking forward to being completely fruit fly free very soon.

  17. This WORKS. We were suddenly swarmed with fruit flies in the kitchen, and then suddenly in another room.I got these soon after, and after a little over a week or so of having them, we have no more fruit flies in both rooms!!!The pic is with flash, but you can see so many in there along with old ones.At first it looks like this product just attracts them, but it is working!! I truly don’t understand any of the negative reviews. Did they not take off the thing under the lid before use? Did they not read the easy instructions? Did they judge just after a day? Because seriously, this product is amazing.Another thing I love about it is that it’s safe. The other room is my reptile room, and they infested only one enclosure. I put this thing on top and near it, and I cannot smell it unless super close, and my animals are not at all impacted.I love this so much, I took the time to make sure I gave this the review it deserves. Trust the process, just be patient and give it some time!!!

  18. I set this up on my front porch where most of the flies congregated around my house. Mixed the secret sauce packet with water to the line on jar and set it on the front porch floor. Within 2 hours there were 10 flies in the trap. 5 days later, the sauce needs to get changed! Solid fly mass inside trap! I was really blown away as to the simplicity and effectiveness of this trap! It does smell like a real dirty trash can so be aware of this and locate it accordingly. Breezes blowing around will make the smell travel, but it’s not a constant smell and you can decide what’s worse…infrequent smell or non-stop flies! I can tolerate the smell. Just not flies.

  19. Fantastic product. I’ve used them for years and barely have any flies around the house and barn. Bag is usually full in a week, depending on weather, so you need to replace it. Be warned – dead flies stink. I usually put the bag of flies in a plastic bag then put that in a trash bag. Highly recommend these if you have a fly problem.

  20. Doesn’t work. The fruit flies only attracted to it for two days then it lost its elasticity to attract flies. Not sure why.

  21. Good product but as it states, this is a 2 pack. When I ordered my traps, I only received 1 trap. I’m not sure if this is a common issue or not but still obnoxious for what I paid

  22. This product works very efficiently, but the smell after a week is unbearable! Don’t place this anywhere near where people will be.

  23. We have old windows and flys help themselves to our home. Got to the point where every able-bodied adult was armed with a fly swatter. We killed 50 to 100 flies per day. One even got on our food and laid eggs, we were disgusted and over it. This is the first fly trap we purchased and the results are amazing. We placed this outside our kitchen window and within 48 hours no more flys in our home. Caution this stuff smells like hot vomit, hence why the flies are lined up to get in, bought a 2nd one to place my our garbage bin.

  24. I’ve dealt with flies like no one’s business. Any remedy that’s in the market, I’ve tried. Now this? This is godsend. Easy to set up, just add water and hang it up and we’re good to go. It’s small yet compact. Not even 10 minutes after hanging it up- flies were SWARMING around it. I have never seen such thing. The smell is quite strong and not the for the sensitive stomachs BUT it’s so worth it. Quality of the bags and hair is top notch, and the appearance isn’t an issue because the small size the bags come in.

  25. Bottom line is that these work great! They caught so many flies. However, the smell is so strong that made the backyard stink and we avoided it. Also, not sure if we had more flies because the smell was so strong we were attracting them from all over, or if that’s just how many we had around. Nonetheless, the did work but keep the smell in mind.

  26. This product is insanely effective almost scary effective. We had an insane amount of flies as I lived half a block from the beach. I put this outside my door as that’s where all of the flies were and looked in it not even a day later and it was basically halfway full I couldn’t even believe it so I make sure that I keep this in stock at all times if it starts to fill up with flies, you will get like almost a dead body sent whatever that smells like it basically just smells like death so you will have to change it out once it starts to fill up but it works like crazy. I couldn’t even believe my eyes. I don’t have one outside right now as it is winter so I’ll have to post a picture once I put it back outside again, but it is quite crazy how it attracts the flies and it works like crazy. I can’t recommend this product enough if you’re having a fly problem .

  27. I live in Southern California and with so much rain this year we have lots of fruit flies around and they bite! 🙁 We’ve tried everything – cider vinegar, Terro traps. They kind of work but looking for something that would be more effective. Bought 4 of these and they are GREAT! You can see how many flies they catch. I read the reviews and most said it was good for smaller insects so I can say it works for small fruit flies and small moths. Not at all sure if it would catch larger flies. But for what I need it’s perfect. My ONLY complaint is that these work based on the light attracting them. So, they don’t work during the day. It would be great to but a scent in them that attracted the flies (like a Glade plug in) PLUS the sticky surface. That way the scent could work in the daytime to attract them. Otherwise good product.

  28. Easy to assemble. Need your own rope, but works great. We had an outdoor party and placed two bags around our 40 guest, NO FLIES while we were eating. I was amazed. Disposal is gross, ended up placing both bags in trash.

  29. I didn’t know that I had so many gnats (and perhaps other tiny flies?) in the master bathroom and my office. All I knew is that it seemed that there was something that was doing a “drive-by-bite”, and it was so fast that I could never see it, hence I could never catch it. I recently killed a couple of gnats in the master bath, something I hadn’t seen in the first 2 years we first purchased this home, so I feel like this problem is new.I started looking into how to fix the situation, and I knew right away that I was not interested in creating a whole bunch of contraptions of apple cider vinegar with sweeteners, etc, to catch these. I didn’t want jars of liquid all over my house. So, as usual, I knew someone on Amazon had figured out an easier way, and here we are! Now, I definitely need to figure out the root cause, but in the meantime, the solution offered by the Safer Home gnat/fly trap is fantastic. At first, it seemed to be slow going, but within a half hour, one gnat was already on the card. I thought, well, that was probably the one who had been continuously biting my feet and legs! Later, I saw another stuck on the card and then didn’t see much action for a couple of days. Days later there were a couple more…and more! I was thinking, yes, yes, invite all of your friends and family! And it seems that they did. Within 2 weeks or so, the card was nearly covered!Occasionally, I will turn on the light in the bath and find one or two crawling along the edge, or dancing behind the card, and then it jumps on the card and back off. It’s fascinating! If one is running along the edge, I will help him meet his fate sooner, and if not, he will eventually stick to the card with everyone else. What I do notice though is that in the afternoon one gnat (or two?) wanders into the office where I am working after I’ve closed the light-blocking curtains to block the heat and sun. (I guess they are drawn in by the lamp?) So, now I am wondering if I should put another Safer Home trap right on my desk, or by my legs because all of the drive-by-biting makes it difficult to concentrate on what I’m working on.For anyone who says “it didn’t work” may need a bit more patience, or they have too much light in the place where the night light is placed. I placed mine in the master bath, and it’s pretty dark in there, but there’s no door to the main portion of the bath (only where the toilet is). I thought that the light from the gigantic sliding glass windows in the office would affect how the product worked, but it hasn’t. In other words, too much light coming in from elsewhere wouldn’t draw the gnats to the UV light in the bath, but this must not be the case for my master bath.I am so thankful for this product, and I recommend it!P.S. I have attached 2 pictures of what the trap looks like in the master bath with a bit of light filtering in from the big windows in the office. It seems that if you can get your space at least this dark, this product will do wonders for your space – and your ability to concentrate while working!!

  30. First off, the description says that this is supposed to be a 2 pack, but we only received one trap. $22 for one trap is definitely not worth it.So far, after using this for several days, the results have been underwhelming. We have had better results using plastic containers with apple cider vinegar and a couple drops of dish soap, topped off with some plastic wrap and a rubber band. These seem to attract the fruit flies, but as other reviews have stated, they don’t actually go into the holes. I’m not sure if there’s something that attracts them, but keeps them from wanting to taste the liquid, but it’s been frustrating to witness – again – after spending $22, and not even receiving the full order to begin with.Giving it 2* because the design is promising and we’ll probably test out the container with the apple cider vinegar and dawn dish soap mixture.

  31. Wow! Where have you been all my life? This is without doubt the best ‘gadget’ I have ever purchased. It works far better than I could have ever imagined. It has been hanging in my backyard for two days and there must be hundreds of dead flies inside. I do not live in a particularly buggy area, so I was astonished at how productive this product is in the fly killing department. It attracts a variety of different flies. Easy to assemble and use. I love my electronic bug zapper, but this works far better, and without the electrical zapping noise.

  32. We love this product and use them all the time. Don’t place them in an area you will be sitting all the time as they do smell. They work amazing and attract the flies away from you. This is a great value for the quantity.

  33. This fly trap is one of the most effective I’ve ever bought. I’ve tried other products before with some success but never this level! Down side is, it smells like a dead animal…. I had to move mine away from my sitting area because of the smell. But that’s not a big deal because you will trap a thousand flies in this bad boy!!!!

  34. Best part it’s not a big item to have around the house. No sound and it’s easy to plug and use! Catches most of the flies, pro tip turn off the lights so they can get attracted to the purple/blue light. The refills are expensive though so I use a different brand

  35. I used these in the bathroom and in the kitchen, they worked great around plants as well!

  36. These traps are amazing! They IMMEDIATELY started drawing flies from the outside (and other insects) into their carrier and they remained trapped forever. I just purchased these a SECOND time today to switch out because they have filled up with dead fly bodies so quickly. Be careful, the stench of whatever draws the flys to them is absolutely rank, so you don’t want to spill these once you fill them and set them wherever you are going.

  37. It’s rare to find an item that exceeds expectations, but this little plug in bug catcher WORKS. I won’t share more gross photos of all the gnats and such it’s caught in my home, but let me just say “ewwww!” I plugged one in near by potted plants and by the next morning, the glue trap and caught a killed over two dozen gnats! I mean, they were in my house which totally makes me barf. If you have indoor plants, get this. I like to leave my windows open for fresh air, so all kinds of things fly in. I ordered three more and placed them all over, and they are catching so many little buggers. This thing is the real deal. IT WORKS!

  38. The rescue traps work great! Simple to use and effective. I tried some cheaper brands that seemed to be the exact same.. they didnt work. Lesson learned. Stick with this brand. Simple, effective and affordable.

  39. Bought this since I had sink drain gnats. I cleaned my drains but that didn’t get rid of all of them. I plugged in one by each sink. The first night I just caught a couple, but after a week both traps were full. I even caught a couple moths and a fly. I noticed a gnat by my table today so I figured it must be time to change the sticky pads and sure enough they were full and needed to be changed. I like the dim blue light it puts out it makes a good night light. Worth every penny.

  40. I wasn’t sure it was working but upon looking closer it was full of flies. Pretty disgusting but if it controls the flies I’m all for it. Definitely something I’ll buy again.

  41. It comes with one plug and two fly catcher things. It catches them perfectly, the picture is from two days of being plugged in. And the light is really bright so it works as a night light as well!

  42. I have an infestation of small gnats, due to potted plants in my house. I placed this light by the potted plants and overnight it seems to catch about 30 every night. Now I only need about 10 more of these, to catch the hundreds of gnats I have, flying around the house.
