  1. Absolutely fantastic product! I host cream teas in our village for two days in July and, as we keep the doors to the garden open, usually get lots in flies in the kitchen (it used to be a barn). I’ve tried other products but this was great – I put it just outside the door and it caught huge numbers of flies. We had maybe one fly in the kitchen which was such an improvement. Very occasionally I noticed the smell (disgusting) but moved it out of the way and it still caught them. It’s still catching them a week later. I will definitely be buying more bait and looking forward to a fly free summer!

  2. I purchased this for in door use, as i had fly issue in the back of the house After a few days the smell was disgusting and it wasn’t being that effective so I moved it outside, just out of the way. Within a couple of days the trap was fully active, capturing flies at an amazing rate. the house remained clear of most flies (just not the really really small ones). This is highly recommended – if you want it for a BBQ or specific date, its worth setting up a few days in advance as it takes some time for it to get going.

  3. Ich verstehe die negativen Bewertungen nicht.Nach einer Woche war das Teil bereits Rand voll mit fliegen. Ich hatte daneben noch noch anderes Produkt und darin war eine einzige fliege.

  4. Worked straight away flies gone byebye lol good quality eliminates flies straight away

  5. OMG this thing is amazing! We are using it at our cottage on the lake and we have always had a lot of flies buzzing around, but I actually purchased this hoping it would get rid of the sand flies/fleas/gnats that are so annoying in the spring/early summer. I am sad to say this does NOT work for those, but it is INCREDIBLE how well it works for the regular annoying flies!!!I originally purchased a 3-pack of the quart’ish size containers that had a bait and chain included with each trap. I mixed up the bait as instructed and agree with many of the reviewers that this smells, so I brought them outside to fill the next two. I immediately had flies attracted to the trap while filling them!!! It says to wait a couple hours before placing the traps (guessing to let the bait dissolve), which I only did the first time because it stinks up the house. I hung the traps and within hours every trap had so many flies I couldn’t even count them!! By the next day they were 3/4 full in the morning, so I added some water (not fun when there are flies swarming around you as you do this) and by the evening, the traps were filled to the brim!!! I then ordered three more traps to increase the coverage on our property, but sadly I did not check the description close enough because the 3 I ordered did not come with chains, just the trap and one bait pack each.Luckily we have some wooded land on our property, so I just take the full traps out back and fling all the dead carcasses back there. With as fast as these traps are filling, there is no way I can possible remove the carcasses and reuse the bait again, nor would I even want to try because it really smells like death has truly warmed over…so gross!! I cannot imagine cleaning the traps either, until the end of the year when I put them away for the season. Thankfully I had purchased some refill bait packets (StarBar brand) when I got the traps originally, and I highly recommend doing this if you are buying the traps. These refills smell the same as the Fly Magnet bait and are almost more effective, because I am refilling my traps within 24 hours!!! The StarBar refills have way more bait than the Fly Magnet came with, so (being thrifty) I am going to try and use 1/3 of the bait refill in each trap to see if it works just as well as a full pack does. I figure it smells the same, so they will be attracted to it. I will find out today if this works!I highly recommend this product for anyone trying to rid themselves of flies. Again, this does not work on sand flies/fleas/gnats, but it does an amazing job on flies. I am interested to find out if they work on the hornets, yellow jackets and other non-honey bees as one of the reviewers stated. If that is the case, I am buying a bunch of these for my home as our fruit trees are magnets for bees in the late summer/fall. If I could, I would give this 10 stars it is so amazing!!! I never review products, but this one deserves all the accolades they can get! Wish I invented it!!!

  6. This product is amazing. The photo attached is after only 6 days and i think I let it get a little too full 🤢 they had laid eggs and the maggots were crawling around inside, so ill change out sooner next time 💀 The west Texas summer is brutal and just beginning and the flies came out full force. I have the Garsum glue traps (also 5 stars) stuck on my back door windows and near the cracks they like to sneak in but it wasn’t cutting it. These have drawn the masses AWAY from my door the kids are coming and going out of. It’s super simple to use. Cut the hole, run some yarn through it, fill w about 2 cups water, hang it up (doesn’t doesn’t bad at this point, just slightly musty) and watch as the nasty things fly to their death. I waited to write this until I had disposed of one and that was BRUTAL. Pro tip: don’t do it in the middle of the day, idk what I was thinking. The worst part for sure. It smells terrible and has flies buzzing everywhere. When I pushed the lid down it let some flies out but not a huge amount. I had 3 baggies to tie it up in and a trash bag to throw that in. It smelled even through all those layers! BUT worth every penny and I’m already ordering more.

  7. First off, I gave this product 5 stars – as it’s a very simple device. Nothing complicated about it at all, and damn….do these enclosures ever attract flies. I chose this particular product (the rounded plastic containers – package of 3) because I tried the other disposable versions in the past. This way you can renew and clean the plastic containers from time to time. Now, even though I am telling all of you that these things work and I highly recommend them, if you are going to place these outside (like I did on the patio – all 3 of them to be exact), these containers fill quickly with dead flies. In fact, within a week to 10 days, my 3 containers were completely black (meaning that the water filled with dead flies in what seems no time at all). But here’s the clincher – you must (I repeat “must”) change and clean these containers every 10 days or so (if they are outside) because the heat of the sun will cook the water and flies and the subsequent stench is nothing short of putrid garbage and/or rotten flesh. The first time we set them up (used all 3 of them on the patio), we were stunned to see the amount of flies trying to get in those things. And after a week to 10 days, we began noticing very putrid smells coming from our patio, and we couldn’t figure out what it is. Finally, I picked up one of the containers and the stench made me realize that it was coming from those containers. So I cleaned them out, dumping the flies into the woods next to our home, then washing out the containers with a garden hose. I then set them back up again.Another thing you should realize is that you should NOT have to use one of those food packets per container. In fact, take one packet and empty 1/3rd of it into each container – save money because you get the same effect and potency. Because if you check the prices on Amazon (and elsewhere), just an order of 2 or 3 replacement packets (with food powder), costs anywhere from $9.95 to $15. You can also use food items you have in your home to add to fresh water. For example, I got a tablespoon measuring spoon and used sour cream seasoning powder, and put one tablespoon of it into each container – with the same effect, as the flies continued to be attracted to the containers. So yes, I highly, highly recommend these. You wouldn’t put these inside though because that would be overkill. But if you have issues with flies in the heat of the day on your patios, this is it. As I alluded to, we placed all 3 containers on our patio area, spaced apart quite well. But don’t think you can just forget them. So check (and smell) them after a week or so (10 days max) to change out and clean the containers to avoid that most horrible putrid smell of thousands of dead flies cooking inside during the heat of the day.I’m just so surprised that I hadn’t used these devices earlier – like beginning years ago. You know that when things heat up, the hotter it gets outside (in particular, in dry heat), those conditions bring out waves of flies and they can drive you batty. Help in keeping those numbers down with these devices.

  8. These work surprisingly well and are very effective in doing the job. I deploy 2 in a chicken coop run to assist in reducing fly count, which is high here with recent wet weather and high humidity. This version is much more effective than the larger wider equivalent with the 3D print here in Australia.

  9. Long story short, this solved our gnat problem but I have no idea how. I don’t know if anything got stuck to the tape but the bugs are gone. Since it worked, I won’t question it.So we had these annoying gnats/fruit fly like bugs that were only in our bedroom for the most part. There was only like 1 or 2 per day but they were those ones that drives you nuts by flying right in your face and you can never kill them, so we bought these. They opened fairly easily without much force or the string or anything breaking randomly. I took the time to unravel it and tried pulling it tight and holding it like that for a bit, but as soon as I let go then it just wound right back up. I figured it would unravel on its own after hanging it up, so it wasn’t a big deal. (The pic with more light shows how it was out of the box the first night)We put it into our ceiling above our computer where those things managed to evoke the most rage in us and went to bed. The very next morning we didn’t see any flies. I didn’t notice any stuck on the tape either though. Its now been 4 days since putting the fly paper up and we have not seen a single one of those gnats anywhere in my home. I *think* one may be stuck to the paper, but not completely sure, it could be dust too. I really don’t understand it. We had these flies for 3 weeks and no severe change in weather or anything else, so I know it was these papers. They’re the only change we made. Also side note, it ended up unraveling a little bit after we turned on our humidifier last night, but otherwise it still hasnt really straightened out yet.(You can see in the 2nd pic, the darker one where more of the window is in the shot) Its only been up for 4 days and I just measured it to be about 2 feet, even with it still curled a bit. I saw some other reviewers not like that it didnt unravel completely. I don’t mind since it’s not like we need the extra tape space and I’d probably manage to hit my head off it somehow if it was longer, which I’m definitely okay with never doing (again).Ultimately we bought this to get rid of our gnat problem, which it did. Even if it wasn’t in the expected way. So I’m competely happy with the purchase. And it does seem sticky enough that if they land on it they would get stuck to it. Also getting 8 of them for the price is worth it as well.

  11. I found myself with a house fly infestation from leaving the windows cracked while I was away for 2 days. came back to house flies and found where they had laid eggs on the trash can. I had hundreds of tiny baby flies everywhere! It was gross to say the least. Sprays worked but I have pets and was concerned about them. I searched for fly paper online and found this product. I hung 3 of them in doorways to the kitchen, laundry room and front bathroom as well as taking one apart and sticking it to a piece of cardboard so I could swipe at any fly flying by me. They worked really well! The first day I had maybe 20 on each trap and that number grew the next day. I also but out 4 small dishes of apple cider vinegar and a drop of dishwashing soap and those caught tons! I’m disgusted to say I had this problem but this product helped me get on top of it and get rid of the pesky things. I recommend them.

  12. This worked very well and it captured many flies. Smelled horrible but that’s a given. The only reason I gave it a 4 star is cause I didn’t understand the reusable part? It was impossible to try to drain out considering the foul smell and I ended up throwing it away after its first use. It was worth the money though, it did exactly what it needed to do. Also setting it up the first time is super easy as well. Doesn’t look the prettiest for the front lawn, as there are many flies and it looks molded up.

  15. This is the most putrid smelling thing, but that’s why it WORKS to draw in those pesky flies. I mean, within 8 minutes, I had flies swarming, and by the end of one hour, there were too many to count already inside the trap. I have had a horrid fly problem (don’t know why) but one of these on the left side of the house and one on the right side of the house, and I am fly free! They fill up pretty quickly, but even full, it is still drawing flies. I change them out once a month during the warm months. PS Because of the “poopie, death, gagging odor”, place them away from doors and windows. You won’t regret purchasing these!

  16. Cumple con lo prometido, el manejo es muy sencillo, sólo hay que tener cuidado con el pegamento del insecticida porque es bastante fuerte al tacto por si se hace contacto por accidente

  17. So this flycatcher does work and works well. So, what is my problem with it? After a month of use, I discovered that it also attracts flies because of the smell. In just 5 minutes of putting up the flycatcher, I had 7 flies in the trap. “I said, “Wow this thing really works!” After a while, I began to farm flies. The flies just kept coming. I had 40 flies in the catcher in just 3 days. I had to throw it away. I will not buy it again ever.

  18. We have been plagued with a pestilence of flies. In December, mind you. This is unprecedented. So we ordered these fly paper traps, hoping to solve the problem. For the first few days, there was no action at all and I was very disappointed, but all of a sudden those fly strips are like Fly Central, and the strip is covered with those annoying flies, which are some kind of smaller fly we do not usually see. We are very pleased with such an inexpensive and easy solution to what was a very annoying problem. Would certainly use again and can easily recommend to others with similar unfortunate problems.

  19. These traps last year in and year out. They fill up with flys and you bury them well away from anywhere your animals go. DO NOT use the dead flys as poultry or bird food. The poison is a type of neurotoxin in mammals that will cause illness and …well…These stink up close up but overall do not add extra odor to the surrounding area once they are set up.These are fantastic in the barn. We remove an average of 45lbs of flys per month from the barns and yards around our sheep. Here’s a cool fact. Flies will land on your animals in the wet season and lay eggs in their fur/wool. Those eggs hatch and the larvae start to eat the skin and burrow into your animal causing all sorts of issues. Yep, it’s gross, but it happens with all outdoor animals during rainy season if you have lots of flies. Even if you keep a clean barn like us…flies happen. Hang these about every 300 sq feet of floor and keep them away from water and food sources. HANG them so that they can’t be knocked down and get anywhere near your dog or other animal’s food. As with any tool, use it for what it is made for and be careful for your animals to protect them from flies…and fly poison…

  20. Not sure if it was user error, but I feel like I would catch flies and when I would look at it an hour later, the flies were gone. However, it did grab some and they were easy to hang up.

  21. Past experience with these was pulling the top off, extending the tape, and hanging from ceiling. These have the cap so tightly adhered to the holder and the tape adheres to itself so strongly trying to extend the tape results in tearing the entire container. Messy and not very functional

  22. These things really work at drawing in flies. I gave the “scent” a 5 star rating because you can smell the stench from these about 30 feet away and further is the wind is blowing the right direction. After using a few of these in my back yard for about a month, I did notice a decrease in the fly population when we’d bbq. We live in the country with woods, pastures, and a bayou around us so there’s lots of flying critters. Bottom line, these really do work – just put them far enough away from your patio or home.

  23. I am very satisfied with this product. It works, but if you’re looking for a fast solution, this is not it. I’ve had it for a few weeks, it is still catching the fruit flies. I can’t complain, since the glue card is full. I have 2, one in my kitchen and one in my bathroom. It’s the kitchen one that fills up, the bathroom one takes longer. I like the design of the unit, it’s modern and fits in to decor. Also, it’s handy that the unit can be swiveled around from the plug, so it can fit literally anywhere, even if upside down. I bought more glue cards, the generic is totally doable. Overall, great, effective purchase and I’m looking forward to being completely fruit fly free very soon.

  24. I had a problem of many tiny flying insects in my bathroom which came from my shower drain. These are not regular flies but much smaller. I tried many things to kill them within my shower drain but nothing seemed to do the trick. I bought a 6 pack of these and tacked 2 to my bathroom ceiling. Well they certainly worked because there are now many little, tiny gnat type flies stuck to them. They are very sticky so don’t get them stuck to you or the wall. They worked very well for me!

  25. I set this up on my front porch where most of the flies congregated around my house. Mixed the secret sauce packet with water to the line on jar and set it on the front porch floor. Within 2 hours there were 10 flies in the trap. 5 days later, the sauce needs to get changed! Solid fly mass inside trap! I was really blown away as to the simplicity and effectiveness of this trap! It does smell like a real dirty trash can so be aware of this and locate it accordingly. Breezes blowing around will make the smell travel, but it’s not a constant smell and you can decide what’s worse…infrequent smell or non-stop flies! I can tolerate the smell. Just not flies.

  26. Fantastic product. I’ve used them for years and barely have any flies around the house and barn. Bag is usually full in a week, depending on weather, so you need to replace it. Be warned – dead flies stink. I usually put the bag of flies in a plastic bag then put that in a trash bag. Highly recommend these if you have a fly problem.

  27. Funny thing happened when I hung this up. The flies disappeared. It didn’t catch a single fly, but repelled them. Thought it was coincidence, so took it down. Flies came back. Hung another on up, viola, flies were gone. Don’t recommend hanging close to a wall. Wind blew the trap and it stuck to the wall. Left a gooey mess all over the wall.

  28. I loved everything about this. I had a real bad infestation of fruit flies in my room and the bathroom. Soon as I plugged it in, it was working. Super simple and easy to understand. Worked so well I had to get more backings! I was changing it twice a day, and highly suggest this for any infestations. The light is perfect, and attracts more flying insects than a tv

  29. We have old windows and flys help themselves to our home. Got to the point where every able-bodied adult was armed with a fly swatter. We killed 50 to 100 flies per day. One even got on our food and laid eggs, we were disgusted and over it. This is the first fly trap we purchased and the results are amazing. We placed this outside our kitchen window and within 48 hours no more flys in our home. Caution this stuff smells like hot vomit, hence why the flies are lined up to get in, bought a 2nd one to place my our garbage bin.

  30. I’ve dealt with flies like no one’s business. Any remedy that’s in the market, I’ve tried. Now this? This is godsend. Easy to set up, just add water and hang it up and we’re good to go. It’s small yet compact. Not even 10 minutes after hanging it up- flies were SWARMING around it. I have never seen such thing. The smell is quite strong and not the for the sensitive stomachs BUT it’s so worth it. Quality of the bags and hair is top notch, and the appearance isn’t an issue because the small size the bags come in.

  31. Bottom line is that these work great! They caught so many flies. However, the smell is so strong that made the backyard stink and we avoided it. Also, not sure if we had more flies because the smell was so strong we were attracting them from all over, or if that’s just how many we had around. Nonetheless, the did work but keep the smell in mind.

  32. These attract a lot of bugs! Even after getting rained on, bugs still stick to it. I’m happy with this product. They’re ugly, but effective.

  33. I bought two and put one near our fruit basket to catch fruit flies and several fruit fries are stuck to it. Another we put near indoor plants and there are lots gnat fly stuck to it. It attracts fruit fly and gnats and they get stuck.

  34. The smell is gagging but hang it outside and it will fill right up with flies. So handy and kills 100’s of flies.

  35. I live in the country near several chicken farms and when I say flys are bad here, I mean it!!! These traps will fill up on me within about two weeks, but they keep the fly population down and my family is able to enjoy our patio. If there was any downside, I’d say they smell horrible, so make sure they stay away from places you plan to be outside.

  36. This works, almost full, after 2 weeks being out. Flies use to come into my garage, then right into the house. I put this on the side of garage about 6ft back & so far no flies in the garage.

  37. Easy to assemble. Need your own rope, but works great. We had an outdoor party and placed two bags around our 40 guest, NO FLIES while we were eating. I was amazed. Disposal is gross, ended up placing both bags in trash.

  38. I live in Southern California and with so much rain this year we have lots of fruit flies around and they bite! 🙁 We’ve tried everything – cider vinegar, Terro traps. They kind of work but looking for something that would be more effective. Bought 4 of these and they are GREAT! You can see how many flies they catch. I read the reviews and most said it was good for smaller insects so I can say it works for small fruit flies and small moths. Not at all sure if it would catch larger flies. But for what I need it’s perfect. My ONLY complaint is that these work based on the light attracting them. So, they don’t work during the day. It would be great to but a scent in them that attracted the flies (like a Glade plug in) PLUS the sticky surface. That way the scent could work in the daytime to attract them. Otherwise good product.

  39. Traps lots of flies and keeps the area bug free. We use one near our outdoor grill, usually a fly magnet. It will get very stinky as the flies decay. That’s a great reason to buy 3 at a time.

  40. These little wall plug bug catchers are powerful!! We’ve had other bug catching devices that use light also, but these work amazingly better! Super easy to install and noticeable change within a day, with almost all our fruit flies/gnats gone within a week. It’s also been fun checking them once a day to see how many more it caught.

  41. I didn’t know that I had so many gnats (and perhaps other tiny flies?) in the master bathroom and my office. All I knew is that it seemed that there was something that was doing a “drive-by-bite”, and it was so fast that I could never see it, hence I could never catch it. I recently killed a couple of gnats in the master bath, something I hadn’t seen in the first 2 years we first purchased this home, so I feel like this problem is new.I started looking into how to fix the situation, and I knew right away that I was not interested in creating a whole bunch of contraptions of apple cider vinegar with sweeteners, etc, to catch these. I didn’t want jars of liquid all over my house. So, as usual, I knew someone on Amazon had figured out an easier way, and here we are! Now, I definitely need to figure out the root cause, but in the meantime, the solution offered by the Safer Home gnat/fly trap is fantastic. At first, it seemed to be slow going, but within a half hour, one gnat was already on the card. I thought, well, that was probably the one who had been continuously biting my feet and legs! Later, I saw another stuck on the card and then didn’t see much action for a couple of days. Days later there were a couple more…and more! I was thinking, yes, yes, invite all of your friends and family! And it seems that they did. Within 2 weeks or so, the card was nearly covered!Occasionally, I will turn on the light in the bath and find one or two crawling along the edge, or dancing behind the card, and then it jumps on the card and back off. It’s fascinating! If one is running along the edge, I will help him meet his fate sooner, and if not, he will eventually stick to the card with everyone else. What I do notice though is that in the afternoon one gnat (or two?) wanders into the office where I am working after I’ve closed the light-blocking curtains to block the heat and sun. (I guess they are drawn in by the lamp?) So, now I am wondering if I should put another Safer Home trap right on my desk, or by my legs because all of the drive-by-biting makes it difficult to concentrate on what I’m working on.For anyone who says “it didn’t work” may need a bit more patience, or they have too much light in the place where the night light is placed. I placed mine in the master bath, and it’s pretty dark in there, but there’s no door to the main portion of the bath (only where the toilet is). I thought that the light from the gigantic sliding glass windows in the office would affect how the product worked, but it hasn’t. In other words, too much light coming in from elsewhere wouldn’t draw the gnats to the UV light in the bath, but this must not be the case for my master bath.I am so thankful for this product, and I recommend it!P.S. I have attached 2 pictures of what the trap looks like in the master bath with a bit of light filtering in from the big windows in the office. It seems that if you can get your space at least this dark, this product will do wonders for your space – and your ability to concentrate while working!!

  42. Like that these attract bugs without any toxic odor! Safe and easy to use and eliminated my fruit fly problem in a short period of time!

  43. If you’re like me, you really REALLY want to find a solution for those dang fruit flies. I’ve used DIY concoctions as well as at least 5 purchased products. They either didn’t work or were mediocre. This one really works! And the bug carcasses are discreetly hidden behind a panel so it’s not unsightly.

  44. These do work well! Multiple purchases. They advertise as you can buy other bait and reuse the jug, but the bottle gets so gross after one use and full of dead flies that I would not reusing.

  45. I buy these fly traps to lure flys away from the doorways of my home. I also use them near livestock pens to reduce the number of flies bothering my animals. They are easy to use and very effective!

  46. First off it works. It’s amazing how many flies get stuck in there. I do find however, that it seems to attract even more flies than there normally is.Since it is reusable, rather than buying a whole.new trap, I purchased the refills. Dumping out the used trap was disgusting. The smell is horried, I practically vomited in my mouth, and yes I had put a face mask on and doused it with. Lavender spray. It was still disgusting. I’ll probably just buy another new one if I decide to continue with these. If you don’t mind the constant stench of death, this is for you.
